After careful consideration I have come to a final decision that the genre of my magazine will be indie, I have chosen this because from my research it’s the easiest genre to do because its in-between rock and pop, it’s also easy to do because this is the genre of music that I listen to on a day to day basis so I would have more knowledge when making my magazine what to include. I have general knowledge of this genre and I have seen magazines that lye in this genre, I know what the colour schemes should be and what kind of font would be most suitable for this certain genre. Before choosing this genre of music I was going to choses pop as this genre was the most listened to but after looking at magazine in this genre I found it would be way too difficult for me to because the magazines tend to be all over the place, whereas the indie genre is to the point and simple to do. I have a generally Idea of what my magazine will look like this is thanks to all the research that I have made beforehand. Similar products

From the research that I have done many magazines have a purpose for each magazine that is published, they will either try to sell something or to persuade the audience to do something or act a certain way. The general purpose of creating a music magazine would be to entertain its audience which is what I will do with interviews and gossip and information about upcoming artists and artists who have been successful my magazine will include articles about how they have succeeded and what next for them this could be part of an interview or just an article about them and some quotes from other interviews, this is what is expected of a most music magazine. The magazine will include articles about new indie artists or upcoming events and festivals that the audience will want to attend. The magazine will be honest and to the point about other albums, as this genre does have a ‘to the point’ and a ‘don’t care’ attitude. My magazine will try to persuade the audience to subscribe to their magazine and they will do this my giving away free gifts such as tickets to the latest festivals, which is what people of this genre are interested in.

The target audience for my magazine will be those who listen to indie, people between the ages of 13-30 for both genders. I have tried to make the age range as wide as I could because I would like my magazine to appeal to a greater audience, though most magazine will appeal to only a certain audience e.g. top of the pops which only appeals to girls at the age of 9-15 is very broad. I believe the wider the audience the better the success.

My magazine will make money how most music magazines will make money through advertisement, my magazine will do this through festivals as this is how most magazines od my genre do e.g. NME advertise their magazine through sponsoring gigs and festivals which is clever as people of this genre will be at these gigs and to they will be interested. Another way in which my magazine will make money is by getting as many people to subscribe to my common with all music magazines, they can sponsor a product and the product will give them money for doing this. To get regular reader ship my magazine will be if people subscribe to my magazine then my magazine will give them free gifts every month just to say thank you for subscribing, this way people will keep coming back for more, this will be mentioned on the front cover of the magazine for all to see.

My final magazine will include as all magazine include, articles. My articles will be based on made up indie artists and the genre indie, the articles will include interviews and interesting facts, my articles will not bore the reader they will be entertaining for the reader, there will be gossip about artist and I will look further into the genre of my magazine I will name one of my magazines ‘what it means to be an indie artist’ as I think this will be relevant and entertaining for the reader. A magazine won’t be a magazine without a double page spread which is what I intent to include as this is what most magazines include and I will base this double spread page on a made up indie artist, I will use shots of my friends as the artists and I will create an interview with them.
