The Cat in The HatThe Cat in The Hat

Is about two children that,

On a boring, rainy, and bleary day,

Let a cheerful, exotic and exuberant Cat stay.

Despite the children's own doubts and the constant warnings of the Gold Fish,

Sally and her brother, the narrator, gave into the Cat and let him be selfish.

In the story the Cat destroys the house,

And as if that wasn’t enough, ruins there mothers favorite blouse.

In the end, the Cat decides to clean up the mess,

And disappears moments before the children’s mother could die from the stress.

The book is the classic portrayal of the average child,

Who decides to give into peer pressure, and be a little less mild.

Though, in life, every person should try to “put themselves out there,”

They should be wary of the things that could give there parents a real scare.

This is because, as the Cat shows us, once you let go, everything falls into shambles,

And trust me, that’s a tough gamble.

In life, there usually isn’t a Cat in a Hat to clean up your destructions,

So be careful and follow instructions.

The point of all of this isn’t to discourage people to do what’s fun,

But if a Cat comes in to your house and starts balancing a cup, some milk, a cake, three books, a fish, a rake, a toy boat, a toy man, a red fan and an umbrella while standing on a ball, I have forewarned you of the potential outcome.

One fish, two fish, red fish, blue fish

One fish is a children's book,

About different fish and how they look.

The book begins and ends with the constant portrayal,

of a variety of interesting, scary, and unique creatures who are not for sale.

Though, all are called “fish,”

They have specific characteristics that define them as different and special like a dish.

In the midst of the fast paced and wacky words,

That sound interesting while quite absurd,

Dr. Seuss throws in, “Why are they sad and glad and bad?”

To which the vague answer is “I do not know, go ask your dad.”

This book especially relates to identity,

Because it is average, everyday life in disguise interestingly.

When a child reads the book,

He or she doesn’t have to look,

To realize the connection between the fish and the people

that they see all around them in a every day steeple.

In our opinion, Dr. Seuss was trying to show

The different characteristics between individuals, who are all different, like snow.

Whether its because they are “…sad and glad and bad” Or just because they are like Ned,

Who is too big for his bed.

Horton Hatches the EggIn Horton Hatches an Egg,

An elephant is begged,

To watch a mother bird’s egg.

She tells Horton that she is taking a short break,

But ditches Horton and leaves him to wait.

Weeks and months go by,

Horton endures the criticism of all his former friends, even a fly.

As if it couldn’t get worse,

Hunters came and took Horton and the egg to the circus.

There, Horton's egg hatched with a “KABAMANT”

Releasing the worlds first Birelephant!

Horton Hatches the Egg could be interpreted,

As a “dumb” yet strong sense of loyalty instead,

Of something that is just read.

Though Horton is tricked into his loyalty act,

He still sits and keeps the egg intact.

He sits despite the peer pressure and the harsh winds,

Never budging, and so, in the end, he wins.

This lesson of loyalty should be installed,

Into all people big and small.

Though this book appears to be about traveling and insanity,

It is really about one boys search for identity.

The paths that branch off in all directions,

Are symbolic of the choices we make in life without instruction.

As the boy travels, he has is ups and downs,

But keeps moving forward despite the frowns.

“In the end will you succeed?

Yes! Yes, you will indeed

(98 and 3 / 4 percent guaranteed)”

“Be your name Buxbaum or Bixby or Bray

Or Mordecai Ali Van Allen O'Shea,

You're off to Great Places!

Today is your day!

Your mountain is waiting.

So...get on your way!”

Oh, the Places You’ll Go!Oh, The Places You’ll Go is a tale,

About an adventure centered around a young male.

Who goes on a quest to find his own way,

And learns hard lessons about life in the fray.

As he travels this way and that,

He discovers many things and chooses his own path (don’t worry he never saw the “Cat”)

At one point the boy arrives at the “Waiting Place”,

Where everybody is just waiting, as if in space.

When he breaks free of this place and takes some chances,

He discovers himself and start moving mountains.
