I’ve chosen, Sofia Coppla, as my director of cinematography; as being popular known for producing “teenager” movies like, “The Bling Ring” “The Virgin Suicides” Her ingenious way of portraying teenage angst through a lens is incredible. She definitely indicates emotion.

These are some shots from her movie, “The Virgin Suicides”, she prioritizes colours and the lighting portrayed in shots. Showing the brightness as well as the darkness within a teenager’s life; exactly what I want. I believe she proves the innocence, angst

and emotions of teenagers through this in an un-patronizing way; making it more relatable for the audience. This is why I seek

influence from her work. With her interview with The Guardian she stated that, “These kids did really took ingenuity” it’s her

understanding of portrayal I seek influence from.

Just like my director of cinematography, I believe both Ayoade and Coppola have similar styles that’ll compliment each other. Despite only having one teenage film, it’s that good that it is one of my style models. It’s also beautiful cinematography and amazing grainy filters exemplify the emotions of the younger audience.Richard

Richard’s film, “Submarine” is so aesthetically pleasing that I just have to take influence from it. He successfully represents the emotions of

teenagers, showing rebellious activities they get up to, using a kaleidoscope filter to emphasise how teenagers feel about love – and

more. I adore his post-production the most, using a 35mm camera and having an indie grain effect.

Also being my writer, I believe he will make a fantastic job of my movie.

Recently in Hollywood, musicians have been given the role to curate a soundtrack for a movie. Due to him being a very popular producer within the music industry, I believe he has a creative eye for talent. Using this technique can act as a USP because the soundtrack will be released as an EP.

Creating a buyable soundtrack EP is a selling point that may appeal to the younger audience. Using a curator to collect a wide range of many

different artists will also increase the bracket of people who would want to see this film. Although The Hunger Games franchise is much

different to mine, they also took this route and the soundtrack for that is one of the best because teens just love music.

I also love Chris Martin’s role in Coldplay, the soft and dreamy sounds like, “Midnight” represent my genre and also my narrative.

I’ve chosen Steiner to design the costuming of my movie. She’s previously worked with Sofia so both of their visions can combine into one. Also working on teenage films, she has the knowledge on how to portray emotions through appearance.

As you can see from above, one image is the actual illustrations of Steiner’s, using nightgowns with a floral pattern emphasizes

the innocence of the teenage girls. The symbolism of floral / spring where the flowers blossom just like teenage girls do.

Steiner even accounts in contextual information, knowing that The Lovely Bones was based in the 70s she uses bright colours,

flares and unmatching colours. Whereas, The Virgin Suicides was based in the 90s, the era of patterns and innocence. You can also see she loves the colour of yellow, along with the spring theme

and the bright impact it has.
