Popular Camera shots and Movements
Popular shots:
• Over the Shoulder Shots
• Close ups • Two shots• Mid shots• Long shots• Dolly shots • Pans• Whip pan• Extreme close ups
Purpose and effect of use:
• The close ups are used quite a lot in these types of films due to the extremely intense scenes based around the strong character emotions, it usually involves them shouting and screaming, followed by shot reverse shots.
• In the past media text that I have analysed that fit into the British film Genre two shots are used very frequently, this is because of the popular group narrative that exists in the majority of these films. The directors use these to show the connection between characters and the closeness.
• Extreme close ups are noticeably used when the director wishes to focus in on an action taking place in the film, such as gambling, punching or stabbing.
