Not your typical CTF party

What if?

We need a plan!

- Select a number of most cinematic activities

- Describe specification

- Put down a shopping list

Page 6: 30c3 lightning talks - phdays labyrinth

Here is what we’ve chosen

• dumpster diving

• motion detectors

• social engineering

• laser tripwire

• lockpicking

• eavesdropping (mic-radio transmitter)

• bomb defuse

Separate room for each activity

We needed to feel the structure.

Key principles:

- Modular design

- Easy to build

- Fast interior prototyping

Construction model design

Construction model design

Basics specs:

• Dimensions: 3m X 2m X 2,5m

• Three doors: entrance, exit and service

Prototyping room

One prebuilt room to design interior stuff for all of them.

Blueprints ->

-> Contractor ->

-> Two weeks ->

-> One assembled room

New toys arrived

And then we began to solder … a lot

• motion detectors

• alarms

• pin pads

• laser equipment

• tons of arduinos

• …

One device – one nifty box

A lot of prototypes were built

It never went easy

• Rooms lacked rigidity – lasers went crazy

• Radio “bugs” may or may not be illegal

• 3D models not always perfectly transform to real life objects

• Complex Arduino projects are complex

• Lack of building experience

• Time runs faster each passing day

Four months laterwe finally got it running at PHDays III…

DEMO+some feedback
