ABSTRACT Our project Weather monitoring stations are essential to detect abnormal conditions of climate. This project is
designed to monitor various parameters like humidity, rain fall, temperature, light intensity, etc. This system uses
PIC 16F877A microcontroller. Inbuilt ADC in PIC is used to convert the analog data of various sensors into
digital data. This system is interfaced with a GSM. Whenever an abnormal condition occurs, this system senses
the hazard and sends caution message to mobile numbers. The user can log the data at any time by sending a data
request SMS. Using this system, the operator / supervisor can monitor the weather station from anywhere in the
world as it works on GSM network.
This project uses PIC 16F877A as its brain. Eight channel ADC receives analog data from various sensors
connected to it and converts the data into digital data. This digital data will be sensed by the Microcontroller core
and the system continuously monitors the data condition. The GSM modem is connected to microcontroller.
Whenever an SMS is sent to the GSM modem, the GSM modem receives the data and sends to microcontroller.
After receiving the signal from the microcontroller it processes the data and sends the read data to the
preprogrammed mobile number through GSM modem.
A key pad is connected to MCU to enter the mobile numbers of the operators. At any time the mobile numbers
can be changed. This programmed mobile numbers will not be lost even in power failure conditions, as these are
stored in EEPROM. 16X 2 LCD is provided for user interface. The data will be displayed on this LCD. This
project uses regulated 5V, 500mA power supply. 7805 three terminal voltage regulator is used for voltage
regulation. Bridge type full wave rectifier is used to rectify the ac output of secondary of 230/12V step down
transformer.

IMPORTANCE OF WEATHER MONITORING SYSTEM
The day-to-day scientific development which enhances the comprehensive and consolidated
commitment by means of this sophisticated feature of advanced field involved in activity of
agriculture, fishing etc and also for various industries like salt industry, food processing, food
storage, medical field etc.
Weather monitoring system is very important to country like India because we passing
heterogeneous geographical setup (mountain, desert, islands, forest) which often changes
parameter of this land. Using such a system, say Weather monitoring system can make this
achievement.
APPLICATION & ADVANTAGES Weather can be monitored from a remote
Detection and Temperature condition will help us to avoid
damage
It is used as a weather reporting system
It is widely used in Industries
No need of Smart phone and Android phone to Know the Weather
Weather can be monitored within a simple text message
Automatically Send caution message when abnormal condition occurs
CONCLUSIONS
Thus we have designed a Wireless Weather Station Monitoring System Using GSM
This work presents the design and development of a wireless weather station monitoring for
remote location using a PIC16F877 microcontroller.
This data has been analyzed in order to evaluate the Light, Rain, Temperature and the
Humidity. Humidity, Temperature, Rain and light intensity is sensed through respective sensor.
Measured values are displayed on LCD. The transmission of these data to a mobile phone is
achieved using a GSM network and in particular the short message service (SMS) based on GSM
module.
The transmission of the data by a GSM network reduces considerably the cost of the system
management. The data logger offers good performance at a low cost, compared with commercial
data-acquisition systems.
