Steel Construction for StrengthWilson’s Valu-Tec™ doors are constructed of appropriately-sized steel tubing and cold-formed steel structural members based on the size, wind load and cover-ing of the door. Our doors are constructed in strict compliance with International Building Codes (IBC 2009). Factors such as wind load and the weight of the cov-ering are taken into consideration using structural design protocols.

No smiles. Door smiles that is. Our compe-tition’s steel doors can “smile,” or sag from end to end in the open position, due to the excessive weight of the door and the under-engineered design. Valu-Tec™ Bi-fold Door Specifi cations:POWER OPERATOR – All electrical controls are designed to meet National Electrical Code Section 513. The gear motor is equipped with an electric brake and will hold the door in any position during its travel. All controls are factory tested.

CONTROL BOX – Momentary contact, 3-button controls (Up/Down/Stop) standard. All electrical components are pre-wired and tested at the factory.

LIFT CABLES – Galvanized steel cables are sized and numerous enough to provide a 5:1 safety factor. Cables are equipped with spring loaded tensioners to promote even wrapping on the line shaft and provide for soft starting and stopping.

DRIVE SHAFT – The drive shaft is mounted on the bottom panel and runs continuously along the entire width of the door. The cable drums are an integral part of the drive shaft, ensuring an even lift of the door at all times.

COMPONENTS – Doorframe and parts are cleaned and coated with rust inhibiting primer.

LOCKING MECHANISM – A single-lever manual locking mechanism is standard. The lever eliminates the need to manually latch and unlatch both ends of the door. A “lock switch” is standard and shuts off the power to the motor until the door is unlocked, eliminating the risk of damage. Optional auto-locks lock and unlock the door with a push of a button.

MATERIAL CONSTRUCTION – The door is constructed of steel tubing and cold-formed steel structural members. Steel tubing conforms to ASTM A-500 and A-513. Cold-formed steel members conform to ASTM-A-245.

OVER TRAVEL SWITCH – Standard back-up switch that stops door if upper limit fails or if limit is overridden.

SEALS – Doors are furnished with a header seal and bottom loop that hugs the contour of the ground. Also includes foam jamb seals.Wilson is the only company in the industry to provide side seals.
