Thank you Lawrence for the introduction!

The theme of the conference is Bigger ships, greater challenges and certainly as ships get bigger, potential risks will also grow.

My theme is The role of technology in delivering better outomes, this related to packing and securing,

and particularily, to the transport of IMDG cargos in containers!

So, what I would like to do is take you on a small journey we at Cordstrap made as company, showing the role of technology in reducing the risk of IMDG incidents occuring during container transport.

First thing we realised is we need to dig deeper into the world of container cargo securing.

So, we started on a journey, during the first part of which, we talked to many groups of people:

Surveyors / governement controlling agencies / insurers / customers

And found out that in a number of European main ports (Rotterdam, Antwerp, Hamburg and Bremen)

Less than 2% of all IMDG containers are opened and undergo an inspection!!
