AbstractAbstract
Popularity of mobiles devices increasing day by day due to the advantages like portability, mobility and flexibility, but the limited size gives very less interactive surface area.
So the Microsoft company has developed Skinput, a technology that appropriates the human body for acoustic transmission, allowing the skin to be used as an input surface.
This approach provides an always available, naturally portable, and on-body finger input
system.
• Skinput is named because it uses the human skin.
• Skinput, is a sensor system.
• This technology uses the screen as the tracking surface or the unique input device.
Introduction
OjectivesOjectivesGiving input through skin.
The primary goal of Skinput is to provide an always available mobile input system – that is, an input system that does not require a user to carry or pick up a device.
About SkinputAbout SkinputIt is a combination of three technologies
1.Pico- Projector.
2.Bio- acoustic sensor.
3.Bluetooth.Pico-Projector displays screen on our skin. When the finger touches the body, some vibrations are generated, in order to capture such vibrations we use Bio-acoustic sensors which are mounted on an arm band. This arm band is connected to the mobile phone using Bluetooth.
Principles of SkinputPrinciples of Skinput• It listen to vibrations in
our body
• Skinput uses a series of sensors to track where a user tapes on his arm.
• Provide an always available mobile input system.
• The arm is an instrument.
Touch screen vs. Skinput Touch screen vs. Skinput TechnologyTechnology
• Needs visual assistance.
• visual assistance is not needed.
How it worksHow it works•It uses a microchip-sized Pico projector to display menu.•An acoustic detector to detect sound vibrations.• It needs Bluetooth connection.

AdvantagesAdvantages• Don’t need any Keyboard.
• Provide interactive play expertise.
• Provide straightforward navigation by providing giant buttons. • Arm acts as an Instrument.
• Respond to numerous Hand Gestures.
• Easy to access in absence of Mobile.
DisadvantagesDisadvantages Individuals with visible disabilities cannot use this
product.
The arm band is currently bulky.
Provide solely five buttons.
The visibility of the projection of the buttons on the skin can be reduced if the user has a tattoo located on their arm.
If the user has more than a 30% Body Mass Index Skinput is reduced to 80% accuracy.
The easy accessibility will cause people to be more socially detracted.
ApplicationsApplications
• I pods, Gaming, Mobile, Simple browser systems .
• The Skinput system could display an image of a digital keyboard on a person's forearm.
• Using Skinput, someone could send text messages by tapping his or her arm in certain places.
• While walking and jogging, we can listen to music.
Future SkinputFuture SkinputResearch is going on to-
• Make armband smaller
• Incorporate more devices
• Extend accuracy level
ConclusionConclusionThis system performs very well even if the body is in motion.
In the future our hand could be our I Phone and our handset could be watch sized on our wrist.
