water quality in mine industry

Fresh/raw waterRaw water used in mining industry is the natural water like rainwater,

groundwater and water from bodies like lakes and rivers.

Treated waterTreated water is water that has been made safe for reuse. Raw water

may be chemically polluted during the processing. Therefore, it needs treatment before reuse. Treated water is very much valuable for mining industry.

Problems arise from using untreated water

In general, water quality criteria for ore flotation are not critical. Practically any water that is free of acid, mud, or slimes, may be used.

The water used in the leaching process is similar to flotation water.

Water properties of Persian Gulf

13

The necessity of desalination

Copper smelters are usually located where better quality water is available than that used for mining, flotation, or leaching.

Considerable boiler-feed water, preferably of good quality, is needed to utilize the waste heat that is a byproduct of copper smelting.

Some distilled or zeolite treated water is used for washing cathodes.

disadvantages

What issues will follow seawater Consumption?1. Fish and other marine organisms are killed on the intake screens2. organisms small enough to pass through, such as plankton, fish

eggs, and larvae, are killed during processing of the salt water3. the disposal of the highly concentrated salt brine that contains

other chemicals used throughout the process.4. Energy consumption is very high , so it causes to produce

greenhouse gases.5. Damage the ecosystem and biodiversity
