Revolution
of
IT
in
Education
What is Revolution?
• A sudden, complete, or radical change in something: a revolution in church architecture; as
social revolution caused by automation.
What is Information Technology (IT)?
• Information technology (IT) is the use of any computers, storage, networking and other physical
devices, infrastructure and processes to create, process, store, secure and exchange all forms of
electronic data.
Revolution of IT in Education:
• IT in education is defined in various ways and can be broadly categorized in the following manner as:
1. IT as a subject ( computer studies);
2. IT as a tool to support traditional subjects (i.e., computer-based learning, presentation, research);
IT as a subject (computer studies):
• Computer science is the scientific and practical approach to computation and its applications. It is the
systematic study of the feasibility, structure, expression, and mechanization of the
methodical procedures (or algorithms) that underlie the acquisition, representation, processing, storage,
communication of, and access to information.
IT as a tool to support traditional subjects:
is defined by the Association for Educational Communications and Technology as "the study and ethical practice
of facilitating learning and improving performance by creating, using, and managing appropriate technological
processes and resources. Examples: Use of Microsoft Office products, Use of PDF, Internet.
IT In Bangladeshi Education System:
Now a days IT Education and Use of IT in Education both are very much important for Bangladesh.
Gradually we are developing and achieving the SDG. For the betterment and upgrading our education
system IT is the main regulator.
Use of IT in Bangladeshi Education:
1. Digital Classroom.
2. Free Internet for student.
3. Use of Laptop/Mobile device as textbook.
Digital Classroom:
The education initiatives by Access to Information Project
aim to make teaching and learning more effective and
enjoyable for both students and teachers using IT. a2i has
followed a 3-pronged approach in its efforts to remodel
education: establishing Multimedia Classrooms in secondary
schools, training teachers on making IT aided educational
content on hard-to-grasp topics and make electronic
versions of text books available in primary and secondary
levels including technical, vocational and Madrasa
institutions. As part of the education reform driven by the
Ministry of Education, a2i through public private partnership
has so far established 500 multimedia classrooms in
secondary schools and trained about 4500 teachers through
400 trainers of public training institutes.
Free Internet for student:
The Internet has introduced improvements in technology,
communication and online entertainment, but it is also incredibly
useful for education purposes as well. In Bangladesh internet is
becoming free for all university students by the authorities of their
university. Teachers use the Internet to supplement their lessons, and
a number of prestigious universities have opened up free online
lectures and courses to everyone. Some mobile network company
also providing the facility of free internet service for the students. This
is one of the major thing student need.
Use of Laptop/Mobile device as textbook:
New research indicates virtually all middle and high school
students have access to mobile devices and are using them for
schoolwork. inside the classroom most are using these devices for
school-related work , including: Accessing class information
through an online portal Taking tests online Using online textbooks
and Watching teacher-created videos Outside the classroom,
most are also using their mobile devices for school-related
activities. These activities include texting with classmates
specifically about schoolwork Other activities include taking
photos of assignments, finding videos to help with homework,
videoconferencing with classmates about schoolwork (Skype or
iChat) and collaborating over Facebook.
THANK YOU
• So this was a small scenario of IT in Bangladeshi Education. Basically Bangladeshi is developing
based on this IT sector. So our government should give more priority on this.
