3.1 Introduction:

Back bone of workshop.

Inspection section

It is the responsibility of the PCO department that no faulty coaches will move from workshop.

Caring of passengers & provide protection from hazardous events.

Contd.... It’s work starts when all shops have done their work.

Modifications are done in the sheet day by day as per RDSO(Research & Development Standards Organisation).

It also cares about the working schedule of the workers.

Every worker receives a work order from the time fixing section.

If he finishes his work before the allotted time with the desired accuracy he gets extra payment depending on the time he saved.

3.2 Insulation Testing:

500 V, 160 RPM, Megger

Very Important Test

By Megger we can check :

Earth fault

Short circuiting between the connections

Insulation breakdown

Leaking of the battery

3.3 Battery Charger:

135 V, 200A Transformer Rectifier Unit

Charge 110V, 800 to 950 AH lead acid batteries

Feed the AC motor load.

Control is achieved by means of Rotary Switch

3.4 POH : POH stands for Periodic-Over-Haul.

It is done after every 18 months for a particular coach.

On arrival a shop first they note down the defects and deficiencies.

Corresponding actions are taken to heal it.

POH date is mentioned behind portion of coach. 19Javed Tazak

4.1 Introduction:

Electricity is supplied by RSEB (Rajasthan State Electricity Board).

In case of supply failure it is generated by generator sets.

Railway Workshop has its own 11/0.4 KV substation.

Incoming feeder of 11 KV is coming from 66 KV substation at Mohanpura Pulia Jodhpur.21Javed Tazak

4.3 Rules of Winding :Note down name plate ratings & Dimentions.

Determinations of no. of poles acc. to r.p.m. of machine.

Coil pitch ,Coil set & slots calculations.

Wire Gauge is use to calculate thickness of wire.

After washing machine with kerosene formation of turns takes place.

23Javed Tazak

Proper separators are provided in slots for protection from earth fault.

Coil’s end get soldered & Connections are made into star/delta as per requirement.

Varnish paint is done to save the winding from short circuiting .

After Varnishing by VPI Plant, Motor is assembled & Final Checking takes place.

Now Motor is ready to use.

5.3 BLDC Fan: Basic parts are Start Winding, Ball bearing, Fan Cap, Sensor Magnet, Rotor Magnet & PCB.

12 Year life against 10 year life of DC fan.

Wattage consumption is 32 W against 38 W of DC fan.

Highly Efficient, Noiseless and Reliable Operation.

5.4 Batteries: An electrical battery consists of number chemical cells connected in series or parallel.

If the stored energy is inherently present in the chemical substances it is called a primary cell or non rechargeable cell. Eg- Zinc chlorine cell & Leclanche cell.

If the energy is induced in the chemical substances by applying an external source, it is called a secondary cell or rechargeable cell. Eg- Lead Acid Cell, Nickel Cadmium Cell, Nickel Iron Cell, Nickel Zinc cell etc.

PbO2 for positive plate, Pb for negative plate, Dilute Sulfuric Acid as electrolyte.

Summer Training was an excellent opportunity for me to get to experience the things that I would have never gained before.

I learnt the way of work in an organization, the importance of being punctual.

I have gained lots of knowledge .

I learnt how to do management practices and how to interact with fellow workers.
