• MAIN BEARING SEALING COMPOUND (BIODEGRADABLE, PLANT OIL BASED – Approval list

“GLOBALSEAL-TBM/T” and “GLOBALSEAL-TBM/T-EC” is a sealant that can be used in machine

tunneling, specially developed to resist against mud, water abd dust.

“GLOBALSEAL-TBM/T” and “GLOBALSEAL-TBM/T-EC” has excellent adherence even on wet

surfaces and excellent water wash out resistance (< 6 %), it is stable at considerable pressure. It

has high lubricating power.

It is a pumpable product and easy to apply.

“GLOBALSEAL-TBM/C” and “GLOBALSEAL-TBM/C-EC” is a sealant used

in tunnels excavated with full-section mechanical cutters to prevent back-

filling grout, water and mortar penetrating the shild and reaching the

cutting face.

“GLOBALSEAL-TBM/C” and “GLOBALSEAL-TBM/C-EC” has excellent

pumping properties,adheres to all surfaces and offers excellent water

wash-out resistance, even in the presence of salt water. It is formulated toresist high pressures.

Tail Shield Sealant

General

The sealant compound shall be designed to seal the tail end of the TBM

against ground water (fresh or marine), grout and bentonite slurry (if used).

It shall have:

• Good resistance against water and grout pressure;

• Good anti washout properties;

• Good wear protection for the brushes;

• Good pumping properties over a wide range of temperatures;

• Good adhesion to concrete and metal;

• Good stability (no fluid separation) in storage and under pressure;

• No harmful effect to the sealing gaskets.

“GLOBALSEAL-TBM/C-1P” sealant is formulated as a “First Fill – (TBM/C-1P)” product

to resist water and ground pressures and not break down under high mechanical

pressures.

After the initial “First Fill – (TBMC/-1P)” application, the use of “GLOBALSEAL-TBM/C”

and “GLOBALSEAL-TBM/C-EC” sealant is recommended to ensure effective TBM tail

shield protection.

The average consumption for lling a 3 row brush system is 45 kg per meter shield

circumference.
