GENERAL INFORMATION

CONNECTED LOAD’ means the sum total of the installed (connected) capacities in Kilowatts (KW) of all the energy consuming devices on the Consumer’s premises, which can be used simultaneously. This shall be expressed in KW or KVA. If the ratings are in KVA, the same may be converted to KW by multiplying the KVA by 0.85

CONSUMER’ means any person who is supplied with electricity for his own use by a licensee or the Government or by any other person engaged in the business of supplying electricity to the public under the Act or any other law

CONTRACTED DEMAND’ means the Load in kilovolt amperes (KVA) / KW, mutually agreed to between the Licensee and Consumer as entered in the Agreement

Load Factor” is the ratio of the total number of units (KWh or KVah) consumed during a given period to the total number of units which have been consumed had the contracted load or maximum load (in KW or KVA), “Transmission Line” means the system consisting of all high pressure cables and overhead lines transmitting electricity from a generating station to another generating station or a sub-station, together with any step-up and step-down transformers, switch-gear and other works necessary to and used for the control of such cables or overhead lines

LOAD SERVICE CONNECTION CHARGES FOR INDUSTRY Up to 1000 KW Rs.750/- per KW Above 1 MW Rs.750/- per KW or actual cost

whichever is higher. • Test report is to be submitted while

complying with the demand notice. • In case of DS/NRS consumers wiring

contractor's test report is considered as authentic and no verification is done to expedite the release of connection.

• Connections are released on the basis of seniority of test reports(first come first served).

(a) It shall be obligatory for the consumer to maintain the desired average power factor of 0.9 for his load or any other value that the Commission may specify in its Tariff order during any billing period . (b) The Licensee may disconnect the supply temporarily if power factor is below 0.75 unless otherwise specified in the tariff order, during any billing period as per details given in clause 4.36.

(c) Licensee may charge a penalty and / or give an incentive for high /low power factor as per the tariff order of the Commission

LOAD FACTOR

Page 10: Industry connections

LOAD BALANCINGa) The Licensee shall ensure that the load unbalances

does not exceed 5 % at the point of commencement of supply.

(b)The consumer taking three-phase supply shall also balance his load in such a way that the difference in loading between each phase does not exceed 5% of the average loading between the phases.

(c)The licensee may submit to Commission the procedure and time frame desired for levying charges on consumer/ providing compensation to consumers, for not complying to (a) and (b) above

MAXIMUM DEMAND Maximum demand register (kW or kVA). This

is the maximum power value, usually the average of 15 minutes, reached during the billing period (this average time may vary depending on the country). Once the value is higher than the contracted power, the customer will pay a penalty on the electricity bill.

Maximum Demand is a greatest of all demands that occur during a specific time
