2 IEEE COMPUTER SOCIETY INDI I IEEE COMPUTE

It is a matter af pride far us ta unveil the first ever newsletter af IEEE CSI, SAC an the event af AICSSYC 2015 at Delhi. The theme far aur first issue is lluantum Computing. I believe that aur first issue will be able ta give yau meaningful insights into the lluantum Computing, a hat and upcoming fleld af interest.

I wholeheartedly appreciate the efforts put in by the team wha worked behind this initiative and wish them goad luck in the editions ta came.

It gives me immense pleasure ta reach yau all. through this first issue af IEEE COMPUTE. the newsletter af IEEE CSI, SAC. It cavers the latest technology innovations in the fleld af computer science. I am sure that we shall see a much larger participation in the future far this medium, which aims ta stimulate knowledge-sharing and inspire us ta research mare an areas which can provide solutions far society.

Continuing the tradition af enlightening and empowering the student community, here we are with aur first issue af IEEE Compute. the newsletter af IEEE Computer Society India. Student Activities Committee (SAC). We launch this newsletter with an aim ta keep the readers informed about the prime trends and the major developments and opportunities in the fleld af computer technology. It will also feature interviews and reports af events happening under different student branches. Apart from the general articles, each issue af the newsletter would caver a unique theme with a vision ta impart knowledge about new innovative inventions and developments related ta the particular theme. And far the maiden issue, the theme is lluantum Computing. We hope this newsletter proves ta be an interesting read far all students and young professionals wha are passionate about technology and innovation. It is a matter af great pride far us ta launch the first ever magazine af IEEE CS, SAC an the occasion af AICSSYC 2015 at Delhi. My hearty congratulations ta all the volunteers far their efforts behind this initiative! I hope such initiatives would further strengthen the activities in all aur sections with increased ca-operation and support from all members.

Computer Society Student Congress (2013-14) and a R10 Student Young Professional WIE Congress 2015 held in Sri Lanka. Congress (2013-15), two All India Computer Society Student Congress (2013-14) and a R10 Student Young PrProfessional WIE Congress 2015 held in Sri Lanka.I came to know more about IEEE and the incredible work it is involved in doing, by attending events and meetings regularly, following the IEEE websites, social media pages & groups, interacting with students from different colleges and from my seniorsseniors in college. Looking back, I am really happy and proud to have volunteered for IEEE and now, I encourage and motivate my juniors and peers with the knowledge and experience IEEE gave me over the past two years.

When I joined IEEE, I was fascinated by the resources and offers available for its members. It kept me updated in the technical front and tuned to the latest trends in the rapidly evolving computing field. It helped me to

enlarge my net-work and en-hanced my lead-ership and vol-unteering skills. I was able to get

good mentorship and guidance from my seniors, thanks to IEEE!TheThe actual turning point came when I attended All India Students Congress 2013, held at Amrita University, Coimbatore as a student delegate, which was the first ever student congress I attended. Those 4 memorable days was an amazing experience;experience; I got to interact with students from various sections across India and listen to distinguished speakers, who’ve made their own signature marks in their areas of technical expertise. The event inspired me a lot and gave meme a broader outlook on IEEE as an organization, a community of

IEEE Computer Society is the largest technical society in IEEE and the leading international organization dedicated to Computer Science and Technology. The members are offered quite a lot of technical resources such as Computer Society DigitalDigital Library (CSDL), which gives access to over half million articles; a

WhiteWhite Talks are an initiative ‘for the students by the students’ devised by IEEE Computer Society SMIT. The initiative was taken up mainly to keep students updated on the latest technological innovations. I was given the opportunity to lead this particularparticular initiative, thanks to my super seniors and Mr. Prasanth Mohan, the then CS Chapter Chair. As the lead of the White Talks initiative, I have presented the first white talks in SMIT on the topic

IEEE provides a lot of scope for networking and teamwork. This is the best place for us to learn and experiment on new things. At the Student Branch and Student Chapter level, activities that strengthen the technical knowledge ofof the students should be given high importance. Seminars and

‘Google Glass’. The event received positive feedback from the audience and the attendees were also motivated to present White Talks in thethe upcoming weeks. The initiative served as a platform for the students to update their technical knowledge and improve their public speaking and communication skills. SoSo far, 9 white talks have happened covering various technologies including Microsoft Office 365, Android applications, Ethical hacking, E-Ball: Concept PC etc. The success of the initiative also inspired non-IEEE members to come forwaforward and be a part of White Talks. The initiative was well recognized by our staff members and even found a place in the academic calendar of our department.

workshops relevant to a particular field can be organized periodically in order to help the students grasp more on the topic. Strong technical knowledge in a particular domain will naturally boost them to think about a real-time problem and solving it.

And it’ none other than Intel that has come forward with this latest technological innovation with its Intel Compute Stick. A quick look at The Intel Computer Stick would bring memories of maybe a long media streaming dongle or a pen drive on steroids, larger in terms of both width and length. But then, it’s not just length. But then, it’s not just an ordinary stick, it's a PC that runs Windows! Can’t believe it? Well, then just plug it into any HDMI port equipped screen and you get a fully functional PC screen.

The IEEE Computer Society India Symposium had a dynamic volley of lectures and talks from pro-fessional erudites, endless networking opportu-nities and innumerable moments of assimilating knowledge and skills. The participants were ex-posed to an unmatched experience of a lifetime. The Symposium provided them with opportuni-ties to interact with the esteemed speakers and professionals of the eld from the various multi-disciplinary workshops and talks. The Sympo-sium facilitated the identication, creation, cap-ture and exchange of highly peer-reviewed sci-entic and technological knowledge. As for the volunteers, they got an insightful experience of organizing a quality event.
