PATTERN SHOP• A pattern may be defined as a replica model of the desired
casting which, when packed or embedded in a suitable molding material, produces a cavity called MOULD. This cavity, when filled with a molten metal, produces the desired casting after solidification of the poured metal
• Material For Pattern1. Wood
2. Metal3. Plaster
4. Plastics5. Wax5. Wax
In this process, a liquid material is usually poured into a mould, which contains a hollow cavity of the desired shape, and then allowed to solidify.
CASTING
A foundry is a place in an industry, where the moulds are prepared with the help of different types of things(such as sand, bentonite, fire clay, dextrine etc.) and poured them with molten metal to get the solid casting which can be used for specific purposes after machining with in specified limits and dimensions.
FOUNDRY SHOP
• The process of Heat Treatment involves heating of solid metals to specified temperatures holding them at that temperature and then cooling them at suitable rates in order to enable the metal to acquire the desired properties to the required extents.
• To change the properties of the metal or to get the required properties with the help of heat as per design.
1. To relieve internal stresses. 2. To improve mechanical properties. 3. To improve machinability. 4. To change the internal structure.
HEAT TREATMENT
The section is primarily concerned with the manufacturer of small parts of machine tools. The section is further divided into six subsections.
