Vast quantities of GRP waste land filled universally.
Limited recovery initiatives & Lack of recycling endeavors lead to environmental threat.
Loughborough University in UK, in association with UK government and 14 industries, conducted research to make use of GRP waste.

GRP WASTE IN CEMENT CONCRETE COMPOSITES
Partial replacement for fine aggregates as well as admixtures.
Presence of Polymers and shot glass fiber content improve the quality of concrete.
Results in improved Compressive strength, tensile splitting test, initial surface absorption and water absorption of concrete.
Presence of CaO, Aluminum oxide and silica and other polymeric compounds in GRP waste enhance the binding and adhesion of concrete.
Glass fiber content enhances the reinforcements in the composites.
GRP WASTE IN RUBBER COMPOSITES
Increases hardness and modulus of elasticity of rubber.
Improves mechanical properties of rubber like acoustic and noise bearing properties.
Increases damping ability of rubber
APPLICATIONS
Potential to create precast paving slabs and precast concrete wall elements.
Potential to create light weight concrete, concrete paving blocks and architectural cladding panels.
Used to create rubber composites like carpet underlay, bearing pads, bridge and concrete expansion joints.
