:FLUID FLOW

VISUALIZATION :o It is a technique where the flow phenomena are made visible for better

understanding.

o Use of dyes to visualize flow patterns.

o Use of pollen grains for visualization.

o Use of special photography techniques

o Use of polarised light and color filter photography

o Use of thermal photography

o Use of computer graphics

SOFTWARES FOR FLUID

FLOW VISUALIZATION

o Various softwares are available where computer can

simulate fluid flow

o These softwares depend on the solution of Navier-Stoke’s

equation applied to particular flow situations.

o The simulated effect can be viewed as a video clip.

o Very simple tricks can also be used for flow visualization as

we have seen in the video films by Hunter Rouse.

o Following slides show flow visualizations of various

phenomena.

This Computer Graphics visualization shows the important

phenomenon of Karman Vortex Trail or Train.

Different colors are used to simulate the pressure difference computed

by the software
