1 General
FCS/W portable test kit is used to test main characteristic of BT2 & BT3 series air circuit breaker. It
tests tripping characteristic of breaker by simulating signal to intelligent controller of breaker. It has
many testing functions, for example three class protection.
2 Attentions
Read this manual carefully before using and maintenance, in order to use this test kit safely.
Warning
——This kit must operated and maintained by specialized staff.
——Cut off the power before moving or breaking the wire.
——Do not use the power that exceed the rated value (this test kit's rated voltage is AC230V),
otherwise it will burnt down.
——Connect the test wire correctly before testing, do not hot swapping.

7 Operation & Use
7.1 Start & Close
When the test wire is correctly connected, switch on the
AC230V power; turn on the test kit switch, man-machine
interface light on, and welcome interface shows after a
few seconds.
After the test, cut off the power first, and then disconnect
the test wire.

7.3.1 Simple Test
Select "SIMPLE TEST" to enter the "CONFIGURE
SIMPLE TEST PARAMETERS" screen (Fig 7.6); Select
the test phase: A, B, C, N, G; Then select the type of trip:
TRIP, NOT TRIP.
In the "CONFIGURE SIMPLE TEST PARAMETERS"
screen, click "NEXT" to enter simple test screen(Fig 7.7),
to set the size of the test current by clicking △ ▽, click
"START" to perform a simple test, the test results and
test status will real-time display on the screen (Fig 7.8).
After the test is complete, click "NEXT" to save this test
result, click "SAVE" to complete this test to save the txt
file. Test file name with the date of the test, the test
results on the same day will be saved in the same file,
and different tests to distinguish specific test time (Fig

7.3.2 Senior Test
7.3.2.1 Automatic Test
Select the "SENIOR TEST" to enter automatic test and
manual test selection interface (Fig 7.5), select the
"AUTOMATIC TEST" to enter "CONFIGURE
PROTECTION PARAMETERS" interface (Fig 7.10)
Attention: automatic test is available for the controller
with test interface, and the protection parameters are
special designed. It may different from the tested
controller; the parameter will be return to original after the
test.
Click the "NEXT" button at "CONFIGURE PROTECTION
PARAMETERS" interface (Fig 7.11), click the needed
protection type, Fig 7.12 is the situation that three section
protection test function put in.
After configured the protection type, click "NEXT" button
to enter the test alert interface (Fig 7.13), test interface
shows and test begins after confirming (Fig 7.14).
Automatic test interface shows test current, time and
status of each protection, tests are separated by the
selected protection type, if the status bar shows the
following status:
—— INITIALIZING :simulating the test signal
—— TESTING :Simulated test signal send to controller, begins
test
—— PASSED:This kind of protection be in good condition
—— FAILED:This kind of protection function failed
Click the "NEXT" button to show file name of the test (Fig
7.15), click "SAVE" button to save the file.
Attention: the test date is the test file name, the same
test result saved in the same txt file, differentiated by
specific test time.

7.3.2.2 Manual Test
Click "SENIOR TEST" button to enter the manual test,
automatic test selection (Fig 7.5), click "MANUAL TEST"
into "CONFIGURE MANUAL TEST PARAMETERS" (Fig
7.16).
Click the symbol ▽ behind the "PROTECTION TYPE"
at "CONFIGURE MANUAL TEST PARAMETERS"
selection interface, and protection type selection shows
(Fig 7.17), click the type to be tested.
Attention: for manual test, there are two conditions for
the controller that with test interfaces or not.
1) For the controller with test interface, the test kit will
close other protection functions that may affect the test
for certain functions, other protection functions will
resume after the test finished and quit.
2) For the controller without test interface, set the
controller function parameters correctly before the test.
Click "CURRENT" button, input the suitable current
according to the tested controller protection parameters
(Fig 7.18). Click "CONFIRM" finish the input.
Attention: for the controller with test interface, there is
"MINIMUM CURRENT" limitation, the current input
should not less than the minimum current. The minimum
current limitation differs from the controller type and test
protection type. There is no limitation for the controller
without interface. Besides, correct result can only gained
through inputting suitable current for manual test.
Click the symbol ▽ behind "PHASE SELECTION" and
shows phase selection menu (Fig 7.19), select the phase
to be tested.

Click the "NEXT" button to enter alert interface (Fig 7.20)
after inputting the parameters, and test begins after
confirming (Fig 7.21).
Manual test interface shows the protection type of the
test, test current, time and status, if the status bar shows
the following status in the test:
—— INITIALIZING: simulating the test signal
—— TESTING: Simulated test signal send to controller, begins
test
—— STOPPED: Test finished
—— SIGNAL UPLOAD PASSED: ZSI function test normal
—— SIGNAL UPLOAD FAILED: ZSI function test abnormal
Click the "NEXT" button to show file name of the test (Fig
7.15), click "SAVE" button to save the file.
Attention: the test date is the test file name, the same
test result saved in the same txt file, differentiated by
specific test time.
ZSI function test instruction:
The tested controller sends the ZSI signal from the lower
grade to the upper grade. This test simulates the
situation that breaker's short-time delay fault occurs, user
should input a current that make the controller's
short-time delay acts to the test kit for ZSI test, when the
controller checked the fault current reaches the
short-time delay action value, instantaneous protection
will take the place of short-time delay protection, and
sends the ZSI signal to the test kit. If the ZSI functions
well, test kit shows "SIGNAL UPLOAD PASSED",
otherwise shows "SIGNAL UPLOAD FAILED"
Attention: the result will also shows "SIGNAL UPLOAD
FAILED" if the ZSI current input is less than the
short-time delay act value of the controller. This should
not be seen as ZSI abnormal; user should input the
correct current value to test again according to the
instruction before.

7.4 Power Test
Click the "POWER TEST" button to enter power test alert
interface (Fig 7.22), and power test interface (Fig 7.23)
shows after confirming, if the status bar shows the
following status in the test:
—— TESTING: Power input the controller, start power test.
—— PASSED: Controller's self-power supply functions well.
—— FAILED: Controller's self-power supply test failed.
Click the "NEXT" button to show file name of the test (Fig 7.15),
click "SAVE" button to save the file.
Attention: the test date is the test file name, the same
test result saved in the same txt file, differentiated by
specific test time.

7.5 Save File
Click the "SAVE FILE" button at function menu to enter
alert interface (Fig 7.24), make sure the U DISK is
correctly plugged into the test board before saving the
test file into U DISK.
Attention: user should bring your own U DISK.

7.6 Copy Setting Value
When copy setting value, just connect the test line B, test
line A1, A2, A3 can be disconnected. Click the "copy
setting value" button at function menu to enter setting
value read/write interface, this function can perform
read/write operation of the setting value of controller.
——READ SETTING VALUE: Click "READ SETTING
VALUE" button to read the setting value of long time
delay, short time delay, instantaneous and grounding of a
controller. "WRITE SYNCH.IN FILE SUCCEED" appears
if it read successfully, the test kit will save the setting
value till the next reading operation, setting value which
correspond to the specification of the controller saved in
the test kit will be displayed on upside of the
interface.(Fig 7.25)
——WRITE SETTING VALUE: Click "WRITE SETTING
VALUE" button, the test kit will write the setting value

saved into the controller connected at present. "WRITE
SETTING VALUE SECCEED" appears on the downside
of the interface if write successfully.(Fig 7.26)
NOTE: The controller performing copy setting value
operation should be the same specification; otherwise it
cannot run properly.
8 Maintenance
