LAKE TURKANA WINDPOWER PROJECT (LTWP) –TURKANA, Kenya.
The Lake Turkana Wind Power Project (LTWP) aims to provide 300MW of reliable, low cost wind power to the
Kenya national grid, equivalent to approximately 20% of the current installed electricity generating capacity. The Project is of significant strategic benefit to Kenya, and at Ksh76 billion (€623 million) will be the largest single private
investment in Kenya’s history. The wind farm site, covering 40,000 acres (162km2), is located in Loyangalani District,
Marsabit West County approximately 50km north of South Horr Township. Scope of Work: Construction of A substation at Loyangalani, 365 Turbines Construction with an Overhead Line to the
33Mv Building and Stepping up to the 400kv Yard for Transmission to Suswa. A Road from Laisamis to the Wind farm, a village and associated infrastructure.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Primary Objective- Designs Review, Civil works Supervision and Execution.
Management and Overseeing of construction to ensure projects civil works are carried out safely, efficiently,
cost effective and timeously to deliver a quality finished product.
Supervision of construction of the following:
1. 33/400kV Substation - Transformers, Gantries, MV Buildings & Equipment Foundations
2. 33kV Transmission lines from MV Building to the 365 No. Turbine Locations
3. 365No. X 1.0MW Turbine Foundations & Turbine installation
4. Steel structure installation works
5. LTWP Village
6. All major roads within the Projects

Specific Accountabilities:
1. Quality Management
Contributes to compliance with the Companies Quality policies and procedures
Strong working knowledge of WorleyParsons engineering and construction systems and procedures and the
project execution plan.
Review and Approval of contractors quality plans, related work method statements and procedures
Ensures contractors work according to their approved quality plans and procedures
Reviews and approves quality dossiers from contractors for take-over of completed plant
Raises non-conformance reports for defective or non-conforming workmanship including the maintaining of
non-conformance register
Facilitation and approval of concessions including the updating and maintenance of register
Supports auditors with assessment of contractor compliance
Conducting and Coordination of site inspection activities in accordance with the approved quality plans
including final acceptance and handover
Manage and maintain accurate field reports /daily reports Identify the maintain the process for receiving,
controlling and distributing of project records at the construction site in accordance with the WP site
documentation procedure.
Development and implementation of site documentation distribution matrix to include home office and site-
generated documents. Liaison required ensuring site/home office matrices concur.
2. Engineering Interaction.
Sets clear objectives to the engineering team, including achieving productivity and budget targets
Effectively interfaces with engineering team.
Involve customer engineering support where this is a contractual requirement.
Facilitation and approval of site queries including the updating and maintenance of register in accordance
with WP site query and field change procedure.
Maintain flow of technical information.
3. Communications Management
Regularly provides clear reports to the construction manager
Effective communication with the team, the contractor and the customer
Accurate, timely and effective reporting in the format required by the Project to the construction manager
Daily reporting
Weekly reporting
Monthly reporting
4. Time Management and Cost Control
Contributes to the development and maintenance of overall project schedule and specifically pertaining to
the relevant contractors schedule
Supervises work in accordance with the approved schedule
Does weekly progress assessment on relevant contractor’s work
Establish and maintain a graphic representation of contractor progress for display and reporting purposes
Monitors cost aspects of the project within direct control to forecast final costs, identifies trends and takes
action to avoid cost overruns.
Reviews monthly invoices from contractors for payment approval.
5. ESHS Management.
Supports the WorleyParsons Project HSE Manager to control contractor’s implementation of ESHS
commitments according to the Employer’s and the Contractor’s ESHS systems.
Monitors the contractor’s safety performance and reports to the Project HSE Manager any irregularities on
site.
Notifies the Employer of any Environmental or Social irregularities
Supports the overall site security effort by being vigilant and reporting any possible potential security risk and
/ or breach of security.
6. Risk Management
Manages and/or Monitors the closure of all identified risks and opportunities.
7. Subcontracts Management
Monitor performance of WP sub-contractors on site where applicable and report accordingly.
12/2014 to 06/2015: CIVIL & STRUCTURAL SUPERITENDENT FOR PEC.
LAKE TURKANA WINDPOWER PROJECT (LTWP) –TURKANA, Kenya.
Duties:
Conducts site investigations and inspections of structural engineering aspects of the project; provides
suggestions for structural engineering projects to ensure that standards and requirements are met
Oversee The Clients Quality Assurance and Control plan implementation on all the construction activities
onsite.
Analyze, identify and resolve all technical issues in all files projects and ensure efficient interpretation of all
design drawings(structural)
Assist all engineering superintendents Contractors and subcontractors and ensure compliance to all project
schedules and evaluate all associated equipments and workforce to meet all design requirements.
Document all civil field activities and perform regular inspection to check progress of all projects activities.
Monitor and implement all safety programs for projects for assigned areas.
Writing of Progress Reports weekly and monthly capturing the technical details and critical aspects that
impacts on the project.

Duties:
Providing design and drafting services for roads design team for the preliminary and detail design phases of
a project;
Preparing drawings in accordance with the client and internationally recognized standard formats;
Preparing design drawings using AutoCAD Civil 3D or similar type software;

The project involved rehabilitation of Mwea Irrigation scheme
Duties: Analysis, Modelling, design and preparation of structural drawings for building contractors.
Prepare structural concepts for new designs and from an architect conceptual designs.
Structural calculations and Report writing.
work with geotechnical engineers to investigate ground conditions and analyses results of soil sample and
in-situ tests;
liaise with construction contractors to ensure that newly erected buildings are structurally sound;

Practiced further Interpreting survey results into technical drawing for Road and Structural design

Road Channels and Kerbs, Cutting Potholes,
