What is SCCM 2012?• Microsoft System Center 2012 Configuration Manager provides a

highly flexible, automated solution to fully deploy and configure Laptops and desktops from any initial state, including bare-metal deployments.• This enables IT administrators to provide an end-to-end solution for

the installation and configuration of Windows, by delivering applications, updates, patches, and security fixes in a single distribution. This presentation will cover methods to operating system deployment.

Benefits of using OSD : • Saving time & effort•Capturing old settings •Multiple deployments at the same time • Fully backup of user data •Automatic deployment rules• Eliminate human mistakes

OSD Scenarios :• Bare-Metal This involves a new, fresh installation. In this case, a new

image is deployed to a computer that does not have any operating system installed on disk. • OS Re-Installation In this situation the user retains the same

hardware, but is migrating over to a new operating system. Once again, the user's data and settings must be moved to the new operating system.• Replacement (Phase 2) In this scenario, a user is moving from a

legacy computer to a new system. This means the user's data and settings must be moved to the new computer and operating system.

Effort Do everything by yourself One touch installation

Settings Do all settings after every Installation

Automated setting for all scenarios

Multiple deployments at same time

Need more resources with more effort

Only needed LAN cable

Backup Data Need effort & waiting for copying plus Free space on external HDD

Full automated without any resources with zero touch

Automated Rules Need checklist for software for this user

Fully Automated

Human Mistakes Large scale of human mistakes No human Interaction
