FLAT RATE BOOK RENTAL FEE
BY: ADAM, LOGAN, JALEN, DONIELLE
Slice The Price!
WHAT’S THE ISSUE?
Our project is dedicated to the over pricing of books. We firmly believe that book priced have sky rocked for no apparent reason other than greed on the publishing company part. Just ten years ago an average student would be paying between on hundred and two hundred for their books maximum. Whereas now universities can easily take over a thousand dollars for a student per year in book cost.
WHAT'S THE PLAN?
We would like to see a fifty dollar per semester book rental fee for all students at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette. This would save students hundreds of dollars a semester. The idea is that the students pay fifty dollars at the book store. They get all the books they need for the classes they were pre registered for that semester. At the end of the semester the books are to be returned to the book store. If the books are in a favorable condition then that’s it a student has just used our idea of a great system and saved a lot of money in the presses.
WHAT DID WE ASK THE STUDENTS?
Our group came up with a list of survey questions. We went around campuses taking a poll of two hundred students. We collected the data and organized it into bar graphs by grade classification.
WHAT DID OUR SURVEY LOOK LIKE?
• What is your classification?• Do you buy books from the university book store or from other places? • Roughly how much do you spend on books a semester? • Do you mind using a used book? • Have you ever passed on purchasing a book because of the price? • Would you be in favor of a flat rent fee of $50 for all books each
semester?
