Academic Pressure• It is the stress that comes

from schooling and education. 

• Often a lot of pressure that comes along with pursuing a degree and one's education.

• Academic stress is especially hard on college students who are often living away from home for the first time.

Parental Expectations Forced to study specific subjects .i.e. by parents or relatives.

Fear of Failure Grades as seen as the most important part of life.

These pressures mainly comes from:

Some Parents are at their children’s back, daily pushing them to excel

academically.

Parental pressures to pursue academics success

have both positive and negative effects on their

children.

This usually happens because educating a child is now considered as an

investment for their better future.

Parental Expectations:

Forced to study specific subjects .i.e. by parents or

relatives1) Parents want their children to work in a profession in which they have a good chance of succeeding economically. They feel that the social sciences and arts in general donot offer as much potential for financial success as do engineering, medicine, business and law.

2) And they are right to some extent. However, many young people do not

place the same priority on getting a high salary as their parents do. They might be more interested in a lower paying career that matches their interests.

Students want to get that ‘A’ so desparetly that they sacrifice their creativity and choose the easy way out simply to get a better grade.

Fear of Failure

They come to prefer easier tasks not because they are lazy, but because they are rational.

After all, if the point is to get an A, your odds are better if you avoid taking intellectual risks”

Issues with Time Management• External forces also

create academic pressure. Many of us fail in the subject of time management and excel at procrastination.

• The cure requires dedication and commitment.

• Rarely, student feels that excelling in sports is a higher priority than education.

Students begin to think of themselves as nothing more than test score, and they lose sight of the actual purpose:

“LEARNING”

Grades as seen as the most Important

part of life.

Why its Bad?Academic Pressure makes the student to perceive negative thoughts about the education and their life.

It’s a competitive world, and unless you can invent a new wheel or better yet, a new

“FACEBOOK”, the only way to stand out is through academics.

Its quite obvious that:“No one wants to FAIL”

So what to do………???

Here are some suggestions to avoid or overcome academic pressure:

Most importantly: Don’t stress about Being stressed

Set your Goals Manage your time

Communicate with teachers and parents etc.

Peer Pressure from neighbours and relatives – People around parents asking questions about the marks of children and comparring their kid’s performance.

Financial issues- Financial issues from their own and demands from institutions bring pressure to their minds.

Non-listening of children – Children, Teenagers not ready to listen advices from parents. This brings pressure to parents.

Over-expectation and Job fear of children's- Parents getting their own pressure by expecting more from the children. They wanted their children should be on the top of the academic ladder. Job fear and Employment risk also bring pressure into their minds.

Faculty

Faculty Or Institutions• Result oriented expectations – Institutions expecting marks and

100% pass results from very subjects. Putting faculty under pressure for not bringing all students at same

level, which is not possible.Comparing other faculties with one and playing the shame and

blame games.• Students mindset- Students are not hearing advices of Faculties . Classrooms became a place for Testing Teachers.Students taking advantages of free – minded faculties and makee

them cool by behavior but not giving results.Students never understand the purpose of teaching.• Over load of other works other than teaching - Teachers or

Faculties are not only working in front of students. They have been given other works too. Institutions giving other responsibilities also affects their classsroom behavior. Strikes, Sudden leaves, Indifinite closes bring them pressure of completing the syllabus in given time.

Family issues also affects them.• Job security - This is the extent to which lack of job security and

job changes are a source of pressure, for example: ------> job insecurity---- lack of job permanence, e.g. temporary/fixed term contracts--- Future job change--- fear of skill redundancy

Students perception Interest towards subject – Students are not ready to learn. Just wants to get marks. So understanding the subject is difficult to them. Secondly, Not concentrating in class and sudden questions coming from faculties gives them pressure.

Fear of tests and examinations and lack of interest in field. Family issues and Friends issues – Problems in real life brings pressure. Family issues, Father’s job, Mother’s illness, Financial situation of the family are the major reasons. Distractions – TV,games, mobile, sms and movies , outing are the major distractions.

Faculty Students

• It’s a triangular realtionship.

• One should understand others two.

• Elders should express their real in tension of growing up the student.

• It will reduce the pressure.
