With two successful productions under their belts, the founders Camille Jeter-Lorello and Frank L. Dattolo are excited to come back for the third season of A.C.O.R.N. to Brooklyn, Michigan!

4. ACORN Theatre Camp promotes and fosters artistry, communication, opportunity, resourcefulness and nurtures pride, self-esteem, and independence for Deaf and Hard of Hearing middle school aged students using theatre craft in an outdoor retreat-style environment.
The importance of promoting self-awareness, literacy, motivation, and independent problem solving will be highlighted at the camp as Deaf and Hard of Hearing students learn how to overcome roadblocks that obstruct the paths that they would like to follow in life. By enhancing their self-esteem through the use of theater crafts, the students will be able to accept the bigger challenges that they will be faced with in their daily lives. This summer theatre program is for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing middle school to High School aged students throughout the U.S. It is essential that the Deaf children be given the artistic opportunity to take pride in themselves, and present themselves to the hearing world in a competent, confident way.
5. Camille Jeter-Lorello
Originally from Michigan, Camille was involved in theatre business for more than 28 years, performed off-Broadway and on Broadway. She toured with the National Theatre of the Deaf for 15 years. Camille has worn many hats during her professional career that includes Actor, Artistic Director, Director of NTDs Professional Theatre School and Education and Outreach Director. She obtained her BAin Theatre Arts from Thomas Edison State College.As ASL Specialist, she teaches ASL Literacy at the New Jersey School for the Deaf from elementary through high school level. Camille has travelled internationally, and is equally devoted to her career to the creative arts as an actress, educator, director and theatre arts administrator. She can be seen in Law and Order on TV and ASLFilms, Wrong Game.With her sidekick, Frank Dattolo, she was thrilled to see ACORN Theatre Program for the Deaf Youth which came back for the second summer at Holley Family Village. She is one of the lucky people to have it all and to have worked with many wonderful and beautiful people in her life.
6. Frank L. Dattolo
Frank toured with National Theatre of the Deaf for 3 years after receiving BA from Gallaudet University, Washington, DC where he majored in Theatre and Biology.Currently, he is an assistant to the HS Supervisor at Lexington School for the Deaf after teaching Living Environment for 11 years.During his free time he is in a workshop where he is developing a new play about Laurent Clerc, along with other prestigious artists in NYC.
7. What is Holley Family Village?
The Holley Institute owns and operates the Holley Family Village, which has offered educational and recreational programs for the Deaf and hard of hearing since 1996.
The Family Village is located on Lake Vineyard in the Irish Hills of Brooklyn, Michigan.It is comprised of the Family Residence, the Village Commons and the Village Art Center.The Family Residence contains 12 bedroom suites, a kitchen, meeting room and gathering space.
It is fully equipped with assistive devices for the Deaf and hard of hearing.The Village Commons houses executive offices, a theater, dining room and a large educational kitchen.The Village Art Center contains facilities for teaching, producing and exhibiting the visual arts that are so important to the Deaf and hard of hearing.All accommodations and facilities at the Family Village were designed with the special needs of the Deaf in mind.
