Announcements!These will be quick and to the point. 1) Remember that we don’t have a lot of time

left. Keep on top of due dates.

2) Thanksgiving is coming in 3 weeks. That week will be light work, but make sure you’re bearing in mind that it is coming.

3) I am still getting questions that are answered in the class materials. From this point on, if you ask one of those questions, I just won’t respond. So if I don’t respond to you, check class materials first.

More announcementsI am still updating the weekly assignment grades for the last few weeks, but your Project 3 and Making 3 grades are posted.

If you have an “i” listed in the grade book, it means you don’t have a grade yet but I know why.

If you have a “0” you didn’t turn in the project and didn’t tell me why, so you got no credit.

More announcements!If you turned in project 3, you have a grade sheet, which you should have received via email.

I offer minimal comments unless you ask for more, but you can always request a conference to talk about your work. We will have one more required conference this semester, next week. I will send you some prep questions to have in mind on Friday of this week. I will also re-open the Tungle, which has had no availability the last two weeks.

This week…We really have “everything” for class in play now, so this is the week where it starts to be very important that you can self-start.

If you are worried about keeping up/getting everything done, let me know and we can set a plan for your work.

DO NOT PUT THINGS OFF! It will come back to bite you.

No readingI had you read and watch a lot last week, so this week I want you to continue reflecting on all of that material.

Your forum posts and Tumblr prompts will involve that previous work.

I will also be uploading some audio (probably in video form just so I can toss in some title screen notes) about project 5 and research.

ForumsOne new forum (which you probably won’t be able to do until Tuesday at the earliest): Week 11: Care Bears and Cultures.

I’m going to make a short slideshow of all the Care Bears you made last week. What I want you to do in this forum is talk about what we need to know to understand what each bear is/means. I’ll offer an example in the forum itself.

Other Forum WorkWe have three forums that I think have some interesting stuff going on right now.

The week 9 Identity markers discussion, and the two forums for Week 10 (the Lessig one and the Obama poster one). I’d like each of you to respond to two posts in each of those forums (so six responses).

Once people get started, you can also respond to responses. There is no required length, but try to make sure you add something to the discussion.

TumblrThree again this week. I’ll go ahead and give you prompts, but if you’d rather write about something else for two and three, that’s fine. 1) Top 5 List: The Five Things I want to Know About my Major2) Multimedia post: find something that uses a corporate logo for comedic purposes (a remix, adding it to something it doesn’t go with, etc.)3) Reflection on class: what has been the hardest thing to do so far?

And that’s all…Trying to be low impact/high reflection this week. I will be posting some info about research, but otherwise, that’s all for this week.

By Friday I will send you a conference prep sheet (we will conference NEXT week, on Tuesday the 16th-Thursday the 18th.

Due Date RemindersProject 2 (audiocast) is due this Friday, November 12

Making 4 (which is a lot like what you just did in class) is due this Sunday, the 14th, with your weekly homework. Do not stress over this– get it done in an hour or two, tops.

Project 4, the remix, is due on the 19th of November (a week from this Friday).

Project 5 is due the day of our final, as is making 5.
