Razones para usar picturas

• Picturas dar nos algo para hablar sobre. Toman la enfocado afuera de la estudiante durante la practica oral

• Las picturas pueden illustrar topicos de interes que no estan en el textbook o topicos afuera de la experiencia de los profesores (la tecnologia de computadores, agricultura, y mas)

Reasons for Using Pictures in Language

Lessons3 Pictures provide visual support for

learning as they may activate or access mental pictures which can help the second language learner remember a particular structure or vocabulary item.

4 Pictures are more convenient than some realia to bring into the classroom (e.g., pictures of animals, burning buildings, outdoor activities, etc.).

Reasons for Using Pictures in Language

Lessons5 Pictures add color and interest to writing exercises and discussions without being technologically top-heavy.

6 Pictures can be used in different ways for various lessons. They are not tied to any teaching method, class size, or proficiency level. The same photograph can be used in many ways.

Reasons for Using Pictures in Language

Lessons7 Pictures are convenient, cheap or free. They are easily transportable, lightweight, flat, and they are long-lasting if mounted or laminated.

8 Pictures are very adaptable to the technology of the teaching environment (e.g., they can be scanned in, projected on a screen, posted on a bulletin board, or used even when there is no electricity).

Reasons for Using Pictures in Language

Lessons9 Pictures promote creative and critical

thinking (e.g., in describing an everyday object photographed from an unusual angle, or clouds which appear to be different things to different people).

10 Pictures can raise interest for any students but may be especially important for visually-oriented learners.

Picture Puzzle Activity

• Activity with Cut-up Pictures)

• 1. Look for photos with at least two people and two or three objects with some kind of unpredictable link. (Advertising photos work well for this task.)

• 2. Cut the picture into three or four pieces.

3. Each person in the group has a piece

of the picture. Without showing it to the

other people, he/she describes the piece.

4. The members of the group try to

figure out the total picture by

considering the relationship of the pieces.
