This tutorial will guide incoming freshmen through the process of readying their iPad for the first day of school.

Welcome to Walsh Jesuit High School!

Today, you can use this guide to do the following:

Set up your new iPad.

Add your Walsh Jesuit email.

Rename your iPad to meet with WJ naming conventions.

Enroll your iPad on the Walsh Jesuit network (so you can access the internet when at school and use the WJ apps).

First…

Let’s get started by setting up your new iPad. If the iPad is brand new, click to the next slide….

You’ll find instructions are in YELLOW. Tips and Hints are in RED and WHITE.

…….. If you’ve already set up the basics, you can skip to Slide 16.

Click the arrow after your language selection.

Page 5: WJ iPad Enrollment Process

Scroll all the way to the bottom and select “United

States.”

Then, click “Next.”

Select “Enable Location Services.”

Then, click “Next.”

Choose the iPad Enrollment network.

The password is:

“enrollme”

After you are connected to the “iPadEnrollment”

network, click the “Next” button.

This slide only applies if on the Walsh Jesuit

campus when completing your enrollment.

If you are at another location, follow the

procedure that will allow you to access the wireless network in your location.

Then, click the “Next” button.

Select “Set Up as New iPad.”

Select “Sign In with an Apple ID.”

If you have not yet set up an

Apple ID…

Click “Skip This Step.

Then, later you can set up your Apple ID by going to this link:

Create an Apple ID

Then later you can add your Apple ID by going to Settings, iTunes and App

Stores.

Enter your Apple ID and password.

Then, click “Next.”

Click “Agree.”

Click “Agree.”

First, select “Don’t Use iCloud.”

You can always setup iCloud later…

Then, click “Next.”

First, select “Automatically Send” or Don’t Send.”

This is your preference.

Then, click “Next.”

Click “Start Using iPad.”

Next… Let’s rename your iPad so it reflects your Walsh Jesuit ID….

You’ll find instructions are in YELLOW.

Click the “Settings” app.

First, click the “General” button.

Next, click the arrow next to the “About” button.

Next, click the arrow next to the “Name” button.

Click in the name field and enter your

Student ID (217xxx).

This will be your iPad’s name.

After entering the name for your iPad, click the “About” button to go back to the previous

screen.

Verify the name is correct.

Now, hit the home button on the front of

the iPad.

Next… Let’s get your Walsh Jesuit email set up….

You’ll find instructions are in YELLOW.

Click the “Mail” app.

Select “Microsoft Exchange”

Now, enter your email address and password

Read Carefully!The email is your Student

[email protected], the password your first name and your Student ID. For

example:

Suzanne JonesStudent ID 217000

is

[email protected] (email)Suzanne217000 (password)

The password begins with a CAPITAL letter.

Also - If Suzanne goes as Suzie to her friends, she’s still “Suzanne” for her

password!

Once you’ve done that, click the blue Next button!

Leave all options on and click “Save”

Leave all options on and click “Save”

Before moving on…

To ensure that you are seeing more of your emails, change your email “Days to Sync” from the default of 3

days to 1 month.

Do this by:

Going to Settings

Clicking on “Mail, Contacts, Calendars”

Click on “Exchange”

Then move to the following screen for the next steps….

Click on “Mail Days to Sync” Click on “1 Month” and then click the back arrow “Exchange”

Now… Let’s enroll your iPad on the Walsh Jesuit network….

Now, return to your email inbox and click the message titled

“Your Mobile Device Enrollment Invitation”

The sender may not be JSS, that’s ok.

If you have Snapchat installed on your iPad you MUST delete it before enrolling on the network. Your enrollment will NOT be able to succeed if you have Snapchat on your iPad.

Click the link in this message.

Click “Continue.”

Your username should auto-populate, if not, please enter

it. Next, click in the password field and enter your network password.

Click “Login”

Click “Install Certificate”

Click “Done”

Click “Install Profile”

Click “Install Now”

Click “Done”

Click the “X” to close this tab.

When at this screen, hit the Home button on the front of

your iPad.

Click “Dismiss,” then hit the Home button on the front of

your iPad.

Now… Let’s get your iPad to “forget” the iPad Enrollment Network and “remember” to send you to the Student network when you’re at school. You only need to do this if you are enrolling while ON campus.

Click the “Settings” app.

Click the “Wi-Fi” button.

Click the “Students” network to connect to the Students

iPad network.

Verify there is a check mark next to “Students.”

Click the arrow next to the “iPadEnrollment” network.

Click the “Forget this Network” button.

Click “Forget.”

Click the “Wi-Fi Networks” button to go back to the

previous screen.

Click the toggle button to turn off your Wi-Fi.

Click the toggle button to turn on your Wi-Fi.

You should be connected to the “Students” network

(verified by the check mark next to the “Students”

network) and no longer see the “iPadEnrollment” network in your list.

Next click the Home button on the front of your iPad.

You should now be at the home screen.

Congratulations!

You did it!

Don’t forget – if you have any problems, or would rather enroll with help, you can attend the enrollment tech support sessions on:

August 5th 6:30 to 7:30 and 8:00 – 9:00

August 12th at 6:30pm

August 20th (during the school day)
