CONSULTATIONS

Room Bookings feature in Springshare’s LibCal product.

Page 27: Wisc slis webinarSupporting Makerspace Literacies in the Librar

CONSULTATIONS

• Pre-Booked Tech Wrangler Consultation Stats for 2015– 294 separate bookings– 374 timeslots (started with 60 mins, moved to a 30 min

consultation slot)– Pre-Booked 26% of scheduled hours– We’ve started keeping track of walk-ins this semester– Made more time available in the evenings for

consultations in 2016

CONSULTATION FORM

Page 29: Wisc slis webinarSupporting Makerspace Literacies in the Librar

CONSULTATION – WHAT DOES IT LOOK LIKE?• Similar to a research consultation

1. Find out what their needs [really] are2. What their expectations are of the service – what do they

want to leave knowing how to do?3. Show them resources to help them achieve goals4. Teach them how to use 3D modeling software, 3D

scanners, laser cutter, et5. Explain the principles of engineering as needed

• Teaching library = teaching consultations
