• He was born in Stratford-Upon-Avon in 1564.

• His father was a prominent town oficial.

• He was the third of eight children.

• William received excellent education,with heavy focus on grammar and literature.

• He married Anne Hathaway when he was 18. They had 3 children. Hammet, died at age 11.

• He moved to London in 1591 and became an actor, working with Lord Chamberlain’s Company of players.

• Shakespeare and Lord Chamberlain built The Globe Theatre in 1599.

THE GLOBE THEATRE:

• It was located just outside of London.

• A white flag on the roof indicated

that there was a play that day.

• Plays were performed during the day.

• The groundlings stood by the stage and

the whealthy sat in the upper decks.

• Men dressed up to perform female roles.

• William returned to Stratford-Upon- Avon in 1610, where he lived as a country gentleman.• He owned one of the largest houses in town.• He died in 1616, at the age of 52.
