Why you should read the Bhagavad Gita? Srimad Bhagavad Gita is a Hindu scripture and part of the epic Mahabharata. The Bhagavad Gita has great teachings on the concepts of Dharma, Moksha, Jnana, karma and other philosophies. While most of us in today’s generation have just heard about the Gita, only a handful of people has actually read the teachings. In olden days, the Study of Bhagavad Gita was quite popular and if you ask your parents, they may be well versed with the scripture. So, why is it important for the youth to read the Bhagvad Gita. Have you ever tried reading any of the religious scriptures? Be it Quran, the Gita or the Holy Bible? Probably, some of you must have read it at some point in life. But, how many of you actually tried to preach the way of living as suggested by these profound scriptures. Not many, of course. The problem with us is that we forget the learning’s as soon as the book is closed. Reasons to read the Bhagavad Gita First, let’s look at the composition of the Bhagavad-Gita. It is composed of 700 Sanskrit verses, which are divided into sections. A total of 18 chapters, six chapters in each section. The three sections are: 1. Karma Yoga (the yoga of actions) 2. Bhakti Yoga (the yoga of devotion) 3. Jnana Yoga (the yoga of knowledge) Why people read it? To get in touch with the truth of being. The verses give an introspective into the fundamental knowledge about God, and the ultimate truth behind birth and death. You will also learn about the creation of the cosmos, Moksha, and the purpose and goal of human existence. You should Study Bhagavad Gita primarily to make it a way of life. There are infinite lessons that you can learn from the religious scripture, but you have to be open-minded. Irrespective of your caste, creed and religion, this greatest scripture can be read by all. Since, it's in Sanskrit, many of us refrain from reading the text. However, there are two things you can do if you are passionate to read through. Firstly, enroll for a learn Sanskrit online course and enhance your knowledge of the language. Secondly, if you lack the time and inclination to learn a new language, you could buy a translated scripture in the language of your choice.
