Write into your booksThey used two main methods to build their EmpireThey made alliances with the rulers of other countries who agreed to obey them.(eg Latin city states)They defeated other peoples in war and took their land. (eg Gaul, Dacia, Egypt)

Rome was even once given territory by a king after he died leaving no heir (Pergamon). A bequest in 133BC to prevent civil war.
