Effective Lighting
Effective Lighting is more than just how bright or dark it is; it’s also the
key to the look, mood and atmosphere of your images. The direction
of the light will affect how the shape and texture of your subject
appears, while the colour and how soft or harsh the light is can totally
change a shot’s appearance.
Facial Expression Theory
The facial expression of your model can totally change the way a
magazine is perceived, for example if the model is angry the
magazine may come across as a dark and angry magazine –
however if the model is happy and smiling if conveys that the
magazine is a lively and uplifting magazine.
Effective Positioning
Positioning is how something or someone is placed in a photo,
positioning can be effective by featuring the artist/focal point of the
magazine into the image as well as something such as a prop in the
background.
The Rule Of Thirds
The rule of thirds is applied by aligning a subject with the guide lines
and their intersection points, placing the horizon on the top or bottom
line, or allowing linear features in the image to flow from section to
section.
