Make sure you know who your subject librarian is Every School has a Subject Librarian who is there to teach you how to use the library effectively

UEL SearchThe Catalogue will tell you if the resource is available in any of our libraries and where it is located on the shelf. Help to use the catalogue

You can borrow up to 15 books - books, DVDs, Films

Electronic books on: Getting ahead as an international student
This book will help you adapt to life at an English speaking university and learn how you can get good grades.
Academic writing: a handbook for international students
This book will help you learn the required standard of writing, essays and other reports You need an Athens username and password to read both books wherever you are.
There are reference resources like dictionaries to be read in the Library as well as free online resources
Books on report and academic writing will help you improve your writing skills
Return books which other students want
If not:
You will pay fines One week Loan - £1 per day - Short/24 Hour Loan - 50p per hr/part hour -
You cannot borrow if your fines get up to £25 .
We will automatically renew books you borrow

A pin number is needed which is 0000 initially – ask Library staff to change PIN.

ATHENS Account – the only way to access electronic resources off and in some cases on campus.
Check your email for your Athens username and password
•Ask a Librarian is an online enquiry service -Use to send us queries about using resources and Library services.
•Chat live to a Librarian between 1-7pm Mon - Friday.
•And Saturdays and Sundays between 1-5pm
•Your Feedback- Tell us what you think
•Study rooms – both group and quiet study rooms
•Laptops - can be loaned for one week at a time
Access to the resources of other universities is possible through:
SCONUL Access – enables staff, P/T, D/L, Placement and F/T PG can borrow materials.
Full time undergraduates can have reference access to the resources of participating Libraries.British Library – Books and journal articles not available in UEL libraries can be requested via Interlibrary
Library website - your gateway to good quality free information.
It is important that you do not use poor quality information for your assignment.
The Library has spent thousands of pounds to purchase quality online resources specific to your subject area.
