• What is the difference between them?– Weather-

is the day-to-day state of the atmosphere in a region, and its short-term (minutes to weeks) variation– Climate-

is defined as statistical weather information that describes the variation of weather at a given place for a specified interval.

What info do they provide?

Also provide information on serve weather forecasts and any warnings that may be in place; fire, flood, cyclones etc.

Synoptic Chart

• A synoptic chart is the scientific term for a weather map.

• Synoptic charts provide information on the distribution, movement and patterns of air pressure, rainfall, wind and temperature.

• This information is conveyed using symbols, which are explained in a legend.

• Synoptic charts are used to report on the current weather and to predict future weather patterns.
