What is National Water Week?• It’s an event that is held every year to make

everyone aware to save our precious water.• People of all ages in our community, are

encouraged to get involved and take action, in saving water

Why is it important to save water? WATER IS ESSENTIAL FOR LIFE !

• All the water we need, comes from rain.• Water is essential for ALL Life on Earth.• Water is the earth’s most precious resource.• Without WATER, nothing can survive.• WE CAN ALL HELP TO SAVE WATER!

What YOU CAN DO !!

• YOU CAN make a difference.• If you put all the saved drops together, it adds up, to many litres.• In a household, most water is lost in the bathroom and

the kitchen.

• HERE ARE SOME EASY TIPS TO SAVE WATER, WITHOUT MUCH EFFORT

What YOU CAN DO !! Easy ways to save water:

1.Never throw water away. • If you have water left in a glass - Pour it into your pet’s

water bowl, water a plant, or add it to your kettle.

2.Don’t ever leave the tap running. • When washing your face, collect the cold water running

from the hot tap; to water your plants. Don’t let it run down the drain!!

3. Turn off the tap, when brushing your teeth. Use a cup when brushing, to rinse your mouth.

4. Take Shorter showers. Turn off the tap while soaping yourself.• Save even more - Reduce your shower time by 1min.• Replace your shower head to a low-flow one. These use much less water

6. STOP DRIPS.• Fix leaking taps & toilets; it can waste +-15L / day. Keep an out for drips and

tell an adult.7. Put a inside your toilet tank, and when you flush, less water is used.

8.Wash dishes, fruit and vegetables in the sink, NOT under a running tap.

9. Only wash full loads of dishes in your dishwasher. Pre-washing dishes wastes water.

10. Only do laundry when you have a FULL LOAD of dirty washing.

11. Use washing machine water, for flushing the toilet or mopping the floor.

12. Wash your car with a bucket; rather than using a hosepipe and letting the water run.

13. Collect rain water in a rain-tank, to water the garden, wash windows or wash the car.

14. Use a broom instead of a hosepipe, to clean the driveway and pavement.15. Use a watering can or pressure spray nozzle, to water the garden.16. Plant desert adapted plants in your garden, that only need little or no water.
