Voicethread in the Classroom

What is Voicethread?
Voicethread.com allows a group to have a conversation around a picture, document or video from anywhere in the world.
There is no software that
needs to be downloaded for
use so anyone with an
internet connection can
participate.
What is Voicethread?
• Group members can comment 5 ways: voice, text, audio file, or video. As you comment, the doodle tool can be used to draw as you speak.
• Creator of the thread can moderate content for added security.
Uses in the Classroom
Math:• Explaining mathematical thinking while
problem solving• Working out a problem (using the doodle
tool) and explaining the steps • Exploring math vocabulary words
Uses in the Classroom
English Language Arts:• Reflecting, summarizing, and predicting
while reading• Book discussions with other classes
(possibly beyond the school)• Sharing written works for peer
commenting and editing
Student Security
• Teacher can moderate and approve comments before they are visible on the site. • Multiple identities can be created under
one user so students do not need to sign up for it. • Threads access can be modified from
public, to invite only, or private
