Verb – his PHYSICAL action towards her (actor- affected)
Direct object complete the action of the verb
Verb – indicated that Caroline is responding or is affected by his actions – PHYSICAL but in relation completing actions HE has started!
Remember SUBJECT (does something) and OBJECT (gets something done to it)?
Transitive verb – has an direct object in the sentence
Ask yourself – is the action of the subject done to someone or something?
Jenny grabbed Phil’s hand.
Phil put up the tent.
Jenny made the tea.
Intransitive verb – does not have an object in the sentence
Ask yourself – is there an object?
Jenny sighed.
Phil looked down at her face.
They kissed.Think back to passive/active voice!
