Why does Edmodo provide learning benefits? The text-based nature of Edmodo requires learners to put

their thoughts in writing, and this promotes deeper reflection. Collaborative learning on Edmodo stimulates critical thinking,

shared understanding, and longer-lasting memories of the content.

Social learning using Edmodo leads to cognitive and affective improvements compared to learners that use technology alone.

Why is social learning important? When learning socially, learners shift roles from consumers

of knowledge to producers of knowledge. Producing knowledge, or sociocultural constructive learning, is an

active process in which learners work together to solve a problem or learn a task.

In doing so, the social learners develop a collective intelligence. Ideas, knowledge, opinions, and instructions flow between the

social learners. As learners reconcile the sometimes contradictory transmission

of information from peers, they are forced to update their knowledge structures to reflect accurate concepts.
