• 4 halls in sites across the city

• Total of 1,663 places – over two thirds are en-suite

• Residential Advisers at Varley, Phoenix and Moulsecoomb Place

• 24 hour staff cover at Falmer

• Catered halls: £138 - £159 per week

• Self-catered halls: £120 - £135 per week

• Moulsecoomb Place – Catered - £145 per week

• Paddock Fields – Catered: £150; self-catered: £125

• Premium self-catered Halls in ‘Hub’ at Varley - £150 per week

• 39 week contract; Great Wilkins, Falmer – 50 weeks

Applying for halls

• Invitation to apply for Accommodation sent by e.mail – from February

• University Offer pack details Accommodation options available

• Halls allocation policy

• Guaranteed offers for students with certain disabilities and medical conditions

• To be eligible for consideration for halls, first years should

• Apply to the university by the UCAS deadline

• Make Brighton their firm choice

• Apply for halls by the deadline

• Demand outstrips supply, halls places can not be guaranteed

• Places are allocated in the summer

Higher Education funding

• Tuition fees do not have to be paid up front whilst studying, full or part-time

• Tuition fees and maintenance loans available – repayments based on what students earn, not what they owe

• Maintenance grants up to £3,387 will be available - £25,001 - £42,611 – partial grant

• Disabled Student Allowance

• Additional help available for students in specific circumstances

• Further financial help from the University of Brighton through our range of bursaries, the Student Support Fund, in addition to academic merit and sports scholarships

Social Work funding

• Funding for Social Work courses changed from 2013

• Full tuition fee charged to students – tuition fee loan from SFE

• Students eligible for maintenance loan from SFE

• No NHS bursary in Year 1

• Limited number of NHS bursaries for years 2/3

• Students may also be eligible for University bursaries

Applying for funding

Student Finance England

• One application to assess eligibility for grants, loans and university bursaries

• Student Passport Number for identification• Household income confirmation - NI number and income identified on last P60

• Apply spring of entry year – one of 5 choices if not yet firm

• Deadline – end of May to guarantee money available for start of term

Enrol in person at beginning of autumn term

• University confirms that student has enrolled

• Money transferred to student bank account by BACS

• Paid in termly instalments
