UDGAM MATTERS HAPPY NEW YEAR Please send your writings and drawings to [email protected] Another year is coming to an end. And another new year is going to dawn. It is a well- known tradition to make resolutions for every new year. Whether we follow them or not, does not matter. At least, we realize where we are lacking and make a determination to improve. Firstly, I wish all of us become punctual in the new year. All of us, meaning all our countrymen and all students and teachers and other staff members of this school. Our honourable Prime Minister has set an example of punctuality. He added that ministers going to office in time should not become ‘breaking news.’ It has to be a routine. Teachers and students also need to inculcate this habit. There are some who perpetually come late to school. And they are ‘cool’ about their late-coming! Not even a word of apology comes from them! Secondly, I wish all become healthy and physically fit, build up resistance to face slight inconveniences. Every day, there are a few who remain absent due to ill health. One cold breeze or one shower of rain or one hot afternoon makes them bed-ridden! Then there are those who make guest appearances or should I say ‘test’ appearances in the school and leave mid-way due to illness! I wish that all of us pay attention to health and be fit to do our daily work. Thirdly, I wish we all respect our security guards and peons. After the recent attack in a school, in which over a hundred children were killed, we need to respect them all the more. Many students, parents and teachers have a condescending attitude towards them. They do not like to be told to park their vehicles properly or that they should not assemble at the parking or on the road, because they are ‘small’ people compared to us. Visitors, including parents and ex-students, feel offended when they are stopped and asked their identity. The one question which is often thrown at our security staff is, “Do you know who I am?” We should understand that they are only doing their duty and taking care of the school and students. They keep watch over the school all day and night. I am reminded of John Milton’s line, ‘They also serve who only stand and wait.’ So, let us learn to respect them. Happy New Year to one and all! Another year is coming to an end. And another new year is going to dawn. It is a well-known tradition to make resolutions for every new year. Whether we follow them or not, does not matter. At least,

we realize where we are lacking and make a determination to improve.

Secondly, I wish all become healthy and physically fit, build up resistance to face slight

inconveniences.

I am reminded of John Milton’s line, ‘They also serve who only stand and wait.’ So, let us learn to respect them.Happy New Year to one and all!

A Note from the editor

‘Well Begun is Half Done’

I remember my teacher saying this when I was in kindergarten. At that time

I was not sure what it meant and liked it as it could be used as a proverb

that was easy to remember. But today I am wiser and know better.

Just like the first few days of new year are fresh and joyful and we renew our

efforts to keep promises with new vigour, let us begin each and every work

with full enthusiasm. And let this be true for each new day that greets us.

The changing attitude to each and every job we tackle, be it studies or work,

will not only help to achieve the highest quality in terms of results but also

keep up the positivity and enthusiasm.

This is the first issue that you will be getting in 2015, although the activities are from last month.

In this you will find the need to develop and adhere to habits like punctuality and discipline while

being receptive to change. You will find memories of Christmas that most of us can relate to. There

are beautiful poems written by our students that range from the wishes of a little girl, a different

representation of Jingle Bells, the plea to let children have more fun, sleepwalking and stories of mystery

and suspense. The unique resolutions of our students will definitely grip you as will words of advice to

examinees. Please read them all and send your feedback to [email protected]

Well begun is half done,This attitude makes the task more fun.

No work is big and no task so small,Goals are goals, short or tall.

No one is senior and none junior,We are all here for a common endeavour.

Begin well and the end will be just fine,Strive hard and through clouds the sun will shine.

Be Open to Change

PRIVATE MUSINGS

Living involves changing and growing. If within the family we view the change as what we define as something that is alive, we will be planting a seed in the child’s mind that change is an unexpected life adventure. Change then becomes a thrilling part of everyday life, something easily accepted as the norm. So, next time one of life’s surprises arrives at your doorstep, open the door with enthusiasm. The new year is the perfect time to usher in few changes for improvement. It is an opportunity for us to learn and grow to be better than what we were.

“If we don’t change, we don’t grow. If we don’t grow we are not really living.” – Gaily Sheehy

During Christmas, there is a sense of festivity in the air. Shops are decked and loaded with gift items, Christmas trees, goodies, chocolates, plum cakes- the list is endless. 25th December always brings back my childhood memories. Having studied

in Sophia, a missionary school, great importance was given to this festival. Weeklong celebration was held in school. Right from singing Christmas Carols, to viewing the ten commandments,( which frankly speaking , at that time , did not register much) to watching Lauren and Hardy series.... -we had them all. Two things were favourite with all the Sophians. One obviously was putting our socks near our pillows just the night before the Christmas Eve. It is believed that Santa comes that night with gifts for children and stuff the socks with them. I could almost hear Santa coming in his sleigh, jingling bells ....though there wasn’t any snow outside. Christmas Eve did not require mum to wake, me and my sis, up... We used to be up, on our own, right in the morning. Both of us would hurriedly and eagerly open our gifts and then with squeals of delight and laughter run to our parents’ room to show them our dear possessions, hardly realising that our mum and dad actually were and still are the Santa in our lives. The other excitement used to be the fancy dress party in school. What fun we had. Days used to go in preparation, acquiring dresses

(we did not have the likes of K.B Dresswala then) and thinking of what to become. I still remember the time when I had become ‘pussy in boots’, greatly inspired by one of the characters in a book which I had read during that time. My best friend Poonam decided to become a fairy. The D day arrived. Mum was busy decking me up and my beloved sis, in her enthusiasm and excitement, was busy touching and upsetting things. I could have yelled at her but mum was there. Hence I had to keep my temper in check. The boots were too big for me and the hat kept falling down. My tail stitched on my dress, painstakingly by our tailor, as per my mother’s instructions, was a tad too long. Anyway I was very excited and was waiting eagerly for Poonam to come so that both of us could go to the event. Poonam came looking pretty as a picture in her white dress and her wings made of white crepe paper. Her long hair was tied in a bun and she had put a golden crown made of golden paper. One look at me and she declared something was amiss. When I probed her she asked, “Pussy where are your whisker?” I started wailing loudly but my mum like a knight in shining armour immediately came to my rescue. In a jiffy she produced an ink bottle and drew big fat whiskers on my face. It’s a different matter altogether that my whiskers were blue in colour. Satisfied, I then along with Poonam trudged in my

big boots to the venue. It was a gala event. Lovely music was playing. We played and danced to our hearts content. Though I tripped and fell down twice , tripping on my own tail it did not mar my party spirit and Poonam

was always there to set my tail in order_ A friend in need is a friend indeed. Then came the time for the announcement of the winner. We waited with bated breath for the name of the winner to be announced. Sister Candida, our Principal, very lovingly announced, “will pussy in boots please come up on stage to collect her prize?”Tumbling and falling but with a joyous heart I went to collect my prize. More than me it was Poonam who was happy at my winning the prize and I think she clapped the hardest that day. After that what fun we had_ playing, dancing and gorging on the goodies. Once the celebration was over and we were returning home, tired but happy, I told Poonam that she was the best fairy among all the other fairies we had come that day. To that she replied, “I am proud of you pussy. You looked cute with your marvellous whiskers.” I thanked her because without her idea of whiskers I probably couldn’t have won the prize.....” So you too deserve something “and saying that I gave her one of the two books that I had won. I still remember the innocent pleasure that I witnessed on her face that moment.Times have changed now. I see competition, rivalry, hypocrisy, deceit almost everywhere. People try to pull down the other, topple over another in order to secure their position and outshine one another. In the process they lose their friends and their near and dear ones. Relations, compassion, love, sharing, giving........All have lost their meaning. It is as if everyone is in a

hurry to prove Darwin’s theory of ‘the survival of the fittest.’I still remember Poonam. She selflessly suggested me to draw the whiskers though she knew that we were to be judged and there will a winner. She taught me a very valuable lesson that day.... the art of selfless love. There is more happiness in giving than receiving. She has always proved to be a great friend to me. She in a very subtle manner had taught me, “Love thy neighbour as yourself. There is no commandment greater than this.” Two years ago I lost her to cancer but her memories will always be there with me. When I remember her I am reminded of what Jesus Christ had said, “Love one another... As I have loved you, so you must love one another.”On this Christmas let us all pledge to love one another and also learn the art of forgiveness. Don’t we say in our prayer to the Lord,” Forgive us our sins as we forgive those who sin against us.” We should practice what we preach. Charity begins at home. So let us all learn to despise hypocrisy then invariably the world will become a better place to live in......

Butterfly, butterfly where did you go?I am missing you I love you so.

You will like the flower which I will grow. There will be a lot of water which will flow.

I need a boat with oars to row.I have a big lawn which I need to mow,

I am a girl and I wear a bow!In this season many places it will snow,

It’s time of Christmas and Santa says ho ho ho,I go to Beauty parlour to shape my brow,

I want to use this poem in my show!

A Night of Halloween it was, and I, like all my friends, was dressed as a Ghoulish figure, A Vampire to be specific. I

walked on the quite unusually empty street, towards my friend’s house, to call him. ‘Why can he never be on time?’‘Crackle’, I heard the dry leaves crush… and appeared a shape in front of me, through the fog. “Took you long enough” I cried. And then, I saw his face. “Whoa! That’s some make-up you got there.” I exclaimed. We, as planned, were dressed

as a Vampire Duo. But compared to him, I looked not much more than a kid with a bit too much talc on his face. Any other day, on seeing him, I would have been startled out of my skin. But, after all, it was Halloween. “Come on, fast.

The others are waiting.” I said. As we started walking, he said, “Hey, why don’t we visit one or two houses before we join the others ... that one, for example?” He pointed towards a grey, spooky mansion. His voice sounded a little different but I didn’t give it much thought. “Well, roger that. But are you sure about that?” I asked, “Because I have

never seen anyone walk in or out of that house. Whoever lives there must be a real introvert. I knocked on the door as I shouted, “Trick or Treat?” No reply came but

the door creaked open. We went inside the dimly lit manor. “Treat”, Came a voice from behind and the door shut. As I looked back, I cried with Horror. The man I had walked in with looked nothing like my friend. Actually, he didn’t look like

anyone I had ever seen. “Who… are you?” I managed to ask. Ignoring the question, he said, “I choose Treat… But the Treat is on YOU…” And I felt a tingle on my neck as his fangs sank in. And I was engulfed into Darkness.

“Wake up! Wake up!” I could hear my friends shouting. As I opened my eyes, I saw them all staring at me.”You didn’t come for a long time. So, we came in search for you.”, one said. “You must have bumped into a tree and fallen

unconscious. One can hardly see his way with this mist.” ‘Oh! So, it was all a dream, a Nightmare.’I sighed. My friends helped me up and we started walking. I was still not completely recovered. “By the way,” one of

them said, “nice tattoo on the neck. Almost looks like a real bite mark.”My face went white with horror as I exclaimed, “What tattoo…?”

School is our second home and teachers- second mothersExpectations from us are like none others

We are ready to carve a great future, Yet minds young as ours a little immatureSo I present the story of our plight, And this I would like to highlight:

We students are forever studyingWhat we’ll score in the next exam, is what we are worrying.

During class we are caught napping, Attending tuitions-Our strength is sapping. There’s nothing we ask for, but a few minutes of playtime,

Let go our tensions and be covered with grime.Don’t we all know the famous Proverb?

Work, work and no play makes Jack a dull boy.Like Robert Frost in the woods.

We have miles to go, many classes to attend, Before we sleep and bid goodbye. We yearn to be merry and a may be a little free time,

To rest the head and not to mention the eyesSo we might function again as a whole, Hoping for a change in our life schedules

So we don’t end up as mechanical modules!!!

A bright sunny morning. A cool breeze drifted in through the window, invigorating her tired, lethargic body. A perfect day for Renée Martin. She lived in Quebec, Canada, and it was freezing winter coupled with lashing winds in some months

with otherwise extremely cold climate for the better part of the year. Sunlight was something rare and cherished. Lying in bed, she felt at peace with the world. She then stood up and walked to the window. She saw festivities all around and realized with a pleasant jolt that it was Halloween. Tonight was a feast at her friend Caroline’s place followed by the trick or treat expedition around the town. She stretched and started to dress. She put on a thin coat as it was a warm October morning and stepped out of her house towards the school. The dried, yellow leaves crackled and crunched under her feet as she walked.

Then, suddenly, she started shivering. It was impossible! How could the pleasant, mellow weather change into a dreary, cold one so quickly? She quickened her pace as she had a vague feeling that she was being followed. Thinking it might be someone who wanted to abduct her, she kept increasing her pace until she was practically running towards her school. When she reached there, she saw that everyone was already dressed and made up like vampires and ghosts and witches. “Trick or treat?” said a voice behind her and she turned, only to face Caroline. “Hey! The party hasn’t started yet!” Renée muttered, “What do you make of this erratic weather?” she probed Caroline. Caroline frowned. “I don’t know, it was warm in the morning, but now…” she didn’t need to complete the sentence as Renée knew

that now, the sun wasn’t even visible, and it was overcast with clouds. “ Anyways, you coming to the party tonight, aren’t you?” Caroline asked which was a silly question was as Renée never missed any of her parties. “Obviously”, Renée rolled her eyes and turned away. She then saw him. Her brother Ben. Her dead brother Ben. Standing by the acacia tree in the corner. Renée was fond of her brother who died an untimely death 4 years ago. But he was dead! And that was definitely him standing by the trees. Impulsively, Renée moved towards him. Closer and closer until she was a foot away from him. He was smiling at her, his blue eyes shining mischievously as though he had just played a prank on her. Renée was overwhelmed. Overwhelmed with grief, sadness, longing and pain, but she was also scared, confused and shocked. “Ben?” she said hoarsely. He didn’t reply but kept smiling that devilish smile which made her want to pull his cheeks. She moved closer to him. She had heard about the time warp, a phenomenon in which things from the past or future could come to the

present. Did it work on dead people too? She was a firm believer in science and wanted all of it to be a dream, the strange weather and the renaissance of her brother. But she also wanted the latter to be real. As though reading her thoughts, Ben said, “The possession of knowledge and science doesn’t kill the sense of wonder and mystery. There is always more mystery. Death is a mystery. And incidentally,” he paused to look at the steadily darkening sky “weather also happens to be a mystery.” Renée stood there, shocked, not quite understanding what he meant. “Renée!” Caroline’s voice made her look back. “Coming!” Renée replied and turned towards the tree again, only to find Ben had disappeared. Gone. She had lost him again. She wanted to cry. But, she now understood what he said. Science has never been able to reverse death, to bring someone back to life. And yet Ben had come back, even if that was for a little time. Death was always a mystery. It would always be a mystery. There is always more mystery. Always…

Once upon a time, In the dead of the night,I started sleepwalking, With all my might.

I went to the ground And started running around,Yelling at the top of my voice.

To investigate the chaos, Came the watchman, only To find me as a freeman.

He had a stick in one hand And a brick in the other,By seeing me, his first thought Was to call my mother.

I asked him if he knew, A people few, especiallyMy uncle ‘Horatious’ From the land of ‘Mauritius’

My brain was sleeping, But the body active; My dream had made me, Well truly captive.

I went to bed again, And started dreaming; About some treasure From water spout bursting.

This happiness surged into my brain, Making me wide awake again.Finding myself in my room, I began thinking soon:

That sleepwalking is my hobby Where a dream commands my body.

HUSTLE-BUSTLEDECEMBER 2014December, made people realize it’s a cold month. Chilly winter mornings brought mixed reactions, some were active and busy as bees and some lay in their blankets. Well, as usual school kept students very busy by involving them in activities throughout.

SCHOOL EVENTS BLUE COLOURThe youngest students of our school celebrated ‘Blue Day’, wherein they were involved in several activities to introduce blue colour.

BLACK AND WHITE DAY

Children of Preschool observed Black and White Day. The story of “The Hare & the Tortoise” was explained by PLE activity teachers by arranging the lovely “Shadow Show”. Children enjoyed this different method of learning stories and had lots of fun. All the soft boards were displayed with different theme based on “Black & White” like Penguin

world, Football, Animal Kingdom, Musical Harmony, Panda, Night, Sheep, Dog, & Chess.

READING WEEKReading is very necessary for learning a language well. Only a good reader knows the finer nuances of speaking a language like an art. At Udgam we always recommend fostering reading habit as early as possible, beginning right from Preschool. To further emphasise the need for regular reading, our school celebrated Reading Week in the first week of December. All the students enthusiastically participated in the activities conducted to enhance their reading skillsand also enjoyed it. In the main action area of reading, the School Library, the students were shown videos of famous storieswith morals. A Book Fair was a Grand Finale to the Reading Week. It was attended in large numbers by students, parents and teachers.

RAAHGIRIOur school successfully participated in the social event ‘Raahgiri’ to have vehicle free roads for few hours in the early morning.

MATHS WEEKThe birth anniversary of the great Indian Mathematician is celebrated every year as National Mathematics Day. In Udgam School December 16-22 was celebrated as Maths Week. Each and every child of the school was involved in activities to commemorate the subject that encompasses almost every sphere of life.

CHARITY FAIRTo give is to receive’.With this benevolent spirit of Christmas the students organised a Charity Fair in the school premises that enthralled all. The fair included stalls selling mouth watering delicacies to handiwork made during arts and craft classes. All the tables had ‘SOLD OUT’ tag with the time lag of 4 hours. The money raised will be used for charity work. To make something painstakingly, advertise it so that others buy and then to give up the earned money to the needy is commendable indeed. We are proud of our students and our unique Udgam culture!

CHRISTMAS The joy and positivity of the festival ‘Christmas’ was celebrated by the tiny tots of Udgam. Children came dressed to celebrate the festival to the fullest and enjoyed it utmost. Santa Claus, carols and tableaux - they had it all! The students of classes I and II put up an excellent show that was par excellence.

VISITSVISIT TO SABARMATI GANDHI ASHRAMChildren of Senior KG were taken to “Gandhi Ashram”, where they witnessed different activities happening in the ashram. The working of the Charkha, the spinning wheel that Gandhiji used to spin cotton, amazed all the children. The purpose of the visit was to familiarize them with the life and times of Gandhiji, the Father of the Nation. The visit also helped to instill confidence in the children to go out of their familiar surroundings and proceed together as a team.

MADHUBAN FARMPlay Group children were taken to Madhuban Farm for a day out. They were very happy to accompany their friends and teachers to the lovely green areas of the farm where they were delighted to see a wide variety of colourful birds like macaw, emu, ostrich and many more. They babbled all the way back and went home happily to recount their adventures.

NATURE WALKNature played the role of teacher when children of Class 1

were taken on a Nature trail to Vasant Nature Cure Centre. They gained firsthand experience about the process of planting. They were able to see a variety of fruits and vegetables growing from very close quarters. They were amazed at the beauty and wonders of nature and even an ordinary thing like a radish growing underground did not fail to amaze them. Facts when supported by evidence add to the knowledge and this was 100% true in the Nature Walk which was guided by their teachers with interesting bits of information.

VISIT TO A FACTORY 1. Commerce students have an elaborate syllabus which includes details of working of various factories as well as the import and export process. To provide students with practical knowledge about the working of factories, the students of Class XI (Commerce stream) were taken to an aluminium factory located at Kathwada. The students were introduced to the actual working of a factory and the many processes that go into creating the final product while ascertaining quality. They witnessed the recycling procedure of scrap aluminium. The factory also imports the scrap metal and processes it in to the final product which is exported in different countries. The students were able to comprehend the factory process and also the import-export systems.

2. The students of Commerce were taken to Navneet Printing Press as a part of experience learning. The visit was well organised and began with a brief history of the publication house. Then the students were taken to see the warehouse and the raw materials and thereafter to the printing machines. Here the concerned authority explained to them about the machine operations right from ink to binding, followed by final cutting and packaging. They were shown the galvanised plates used for printing and the paper checking lab. They were also informed about the social responsibility of the company which added moral value to their visit.PREPRIMARY PICNICWinter is the best time for one day picnics, so the tiny tots of playgroup were taken to Suramya VII for a picnic. They played on the slides, swings, see-saw, spinning wheel and many other equipment in the play area. Later on they lined up and sat down to enjoy a delicious meal. They came back tired but happy, chattering all the way.

CLASS EVENTS

CLASS 1Students of Class 1 participated in a seed germination activity wherein they planted seeds in pots and kept the pots in assigned places out in the sun. They ensured that the seeds were watered everyday and the pots have plenty of air and sunlight. Soon the seeds germinated and

Page 12: Udgam Matters December 2014

12

baby seedlings broke through the soft soil. Within no time the seedlings became bigger and the childrenwere overjoyed that their labour had borne ‘fruits’.

CLASS 1In the modern world of technology, computers play a vital role. To give a practical experience to children of Class 1 about the need for computers in day to day running of the school, the computer teachers arranged an activity for them. The students were first explained about the role of computers and then they were taken to different sections of the school where computers are frequently used for proper running of the school. Needless to say the children enjoyed this out of the classroom activity. They shared their experience with the computer too.

CLASS 5The students of class had Annual Sports Day, wherein children demonstrated fine skills in yoga, pyramids, lazims, dumbles, common exercise on the tune of drum. Also there were races to compete in. the students were left happy and they enjoyed everything well.

CLASS 6 Being grateful does not require a particular season but Christmas is the time when we really like to convey our ‘thanks’ to those who matter. So often we miss out people from our list who actually make a difference in our lives and most of us are not even aware of it. They are our ayahs and peons. Today the children of Class VI conveyed their gratitude to these helpers who relentlessly work for us throughout the day. They gave greeting cards and sang carols. Let us also take time to express our gratitude to our helpers.

CLASS 6An elocution event in Gujarati Language was held for class 6 after the preliminary round in class. The Children demonstrated true skill which gave the hint of practice and hard work put in. Topics were varied like Swachch Bharat, Sachin Tendulkar, The importance of time and so on. The children spoke eloquently in fluent Gujarati.

CLASS 7As a part of FA activity, students of Class VII were assigned the task of interviewing their teachers.Students were divided into various groups and asked questions to various teachers such as:They loved interacting with their teachers and carried out the interview in their best reporter style.Such activities make the students more emboldened and hone their public speaking skills, besides making it a good fun activity.

CLASS 7Interclass quiz competition was conducted for Class VII.

The topic was World War I to mark the 100th year of this important yet heartbreaking event. After a preliminary round, there were 4 teams ready for the final stage show. The quiz demonstrated the extensive research done by the teachers in preparing the students as well as hard work put in by 7th graders.

CLASS 7An Interclass Poetry Recitation Competition was held for students of Class VII. The participants recited the poems with ease and confidence. The choice of the poems ranged from the classics by Tennyson and Wordsworth to the contemporary by Maya Angelou. To make the event interactive and inclusive, the audience were teased with tongue twisters.

CLASS 8 An interclass skit competition was conducted among students of Class VIII. The students selected various stories, plays by various eminent such as R.K. Narayan and William Shakespeare. They scripted the skit. Every child in the group was assigned a role or two. The content ranged from comedy to tragedy, treachery, social values and sacrifice. The skits were on Macbeth, Comedy of Errors, Annual Day Mishap, The Tryst With The Temple, The Lion In The Circus and Parent’s Sacrifice.

CLASS 11 TO CLASS 10An eye opener ‘Talk Show’ was held in Udgam School for students of class 10 by students of class 11. No amount of career guidance can be as effective as when you learn about the real picture from your own seniors, as they say ‘from the horse’s mouth’. Following this Mrs. Sharmistha Sinha, Secondary School teacher, moderated a talk show that is sure to make students of Class X be the final judge and decide their subject options better in Senior Secondary.Students of Class XI, Saumya Gupta, Rutvik Shukla, Ritika Kapoor, Jahanvi Shah and Ishita Shah, spoke at length to the students of Class X about the right choice of stream after Class X. Simply going with the flow and taking up Science was not recommended. They stressed on the difficulty level of Class XI as compared to Class X and the amount of effort that students need to put . The transition from Class X to XI is nothing short of a quantum leap. So it is better to be sure of one’s abilities and aptitude before taking the leap. They also generated awareness about the hyped results of coaching centres and the negative issues associated with not being able to clear JEE or AIPMT. The old cliché about following the heart to reach the goal is very true and more relevant now with so many options available. And thereafter one should put in 100% effort regardless of the chosen field of endeavour. The bottomline is one should be happy...and pursuing a goal that is close to the heart ensures that. And if one is sure of the goal then no amount of effort and sacrifice can unnerve her/him.

A Word of Advice

Q- Exams are around the corner and I have so much to learn but I just can’t focus? Whenever I sit to study all kinds of thoughts come in my mind. I want to study but I just can’t concentrate please help!

A- First of all be relaxed as anxiety or over thinking won’t lead you anywhere! There’s no shortcut to success at school. Sooner or later, you have to study. Granted, that very word might have an unpleasant ring to it. However, study is beneficial. In fact, with a little effort, you may find it enjoyable. The following tips will be a great help:

1. Make a proper study plan i.e. how much course is there and how many days you have.2. Allot proper time to each subject. Make a proper time table and stick to it.3. One cannot study for 2 hours at a stretch rather than take small breaks of 10 minutes in between. It will

charge you up BUT THE BREAK SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN 10 MINUTES.4. Don’t sit with your mobile and computer while studying it will add to distractions.5. Don’t study in the hall or on your bed it will lead to boredom. Sit on a table and chair and then study.6. Start with your favourite subject first; it will help to maintain your interest7. Avoid group studies as it mostly ends up in gossip session.8. Please do any form of physical activity in a day it will make you relaxed and calm.9. Don’t try to learn new things at the last moment, rather revise. Revision will also boost your self confidence10. Never think that I just can’t do it instead replace your negative thoughts with positive thoughts

and affirmations like “I CAN DO IT”.11. Lastly talk to a trusted person or the school counsellor about your problem.
