Wednesday 12:Russians elect Boris Yeltsin as the president of their republic.
Tuesday 25:Croatia and Slovenia declare their independence from Yugoslavia.
Thursday 27:Slovenia, which declared independent two days previously, is invaded by Yugoslavia troops, tanks, and aircraft.
