We went to Validebag Teachers’ Rest Home. Our friends Anılay, Elvan, Clara and

teacher Mrs Begüm met and asked questions to old people and the principal of

Rest Home.

The rest home has built in 1989.

They have few clients.

There is one principal, one

assistant manager, one

psychologist,

one nurse, one cleaner, three

receptionist and one night

watchman.

Also this building is used in one of the most popular Turkish film Hababam Sınıfı.

They turned this class into a museum.

They have 35 rooms. The 27 of them are full. They clean the rooms once a week. Some

old people are ill and they need private nursing. The rooms have different sizes and the

capacity for each room changes by the size.

This rest home is the first and only rest home which works with National Education

Ministry and only the teachers who passed 60, can stay here. If they become ill after

they enter, the rest home will look after them until they die. Their oldest person in the rest

is 92 years old. The principal says ‘’ Me and my wife want to stay here when I become

older.’’

The meals, the possibilities are great. And they

have TVs in every room. The meals are taking

to the room if the person is ill. They have

elevators to the dining hall. The employees

help them if they can’t come dining room on

their own.

Our conversations were educating. When children come from schools they want to read books

for them but teachers dont want and they want to tell them what they now. The teachers who

educate students their entire life, dont lose their passion for teaching till they die.

The government helps them in every way. The rest home doesn’t take their reteriment benefits

but their only problem is employee dicrease. The principal says; they look after you how

look after them. Every person is a world and every world has a door. You must open that

There are many secrest in that big box.

The conversation between person and physcologist are private. The doctors come to control

Once in week. The nurse take care them everyday. Their daily routine is;

*They have breakfast

*They watch TV

*They can drink tea,coffee and talk to their friends

*They can have a nap if they want

*They can play board games

*If they want they can go out with their families

*They have a library. They can read books in every hour in a day.

*They have lunch and dinner.

*To rest home the newspapers come everyday. They can read and solve crossword puzzles

In the rest homes they try to give them the best opportunities to the old

people and make their lives better. This common life makes them social. The

rest home is in a forest

and they can go for a walk and take clean air. They can go jogging and they

can go and stay in their own houses if they want.

We had very great time with them. We have much things to learn and we should visit them

in our free times. We promised that we will go and visit them.

We will all become old, being respectful to the old people is the best way to have a good

senectitude.
