Family

A lthough I was not born until the 90s, my history begins much earlier than that. My family emigrated from Mexico to the United States in the mid 1970s . Poverty, oppression, and tragedy left them with little to no opportunity in Mexico. My grandmother, mother, aunts, and uncle risked everything to start a new life. When they settled in the U.S., my grandmother married, and my mother and aunts began their education, enabling my generation with a new beginning and a new home.

From left to right: 1974. My aunt Roberta, my mother Eva, my uncle John, my grandmother Rosa, my aunt Maria.

My grandfather Gene and grandmother Rosa. Late 70s.

My mother Eva. Late 70s.

Education/Career

I am currently pursuing an English degree at California State University of Fullerton.

Once I successfully obtain a Bachelors degree, I would then like to further my education in another field hopefully awarding me with a Masters.

For the time being I am a tutor at Chaparral High School. It’s been an wonderful experience. I am very fortunate to be able to give back to a high school that I once attended.
