Treatment “Life in her yet” by Rag’N’Bone Man Proposed Duration: 3 Minutes and 5 seconds. The song is only 2 minutes and 59 seconds, the extra 6 seconds will be used as an intro. Completion Deadline: Friday 13 th January, this will allow us to arrange our time and how it will be spent so that we can finish with time to spare to check through for mistakes and to correct them in time. Genre: Alternative/ Indie Target audience: The group that we are targeting is teenagers aged 15 up. The reason for this is their will be a large number of people who we can sell too, which means we can create much larger profits than videos targeted at smaller age groups. But this creates the issue that, as we are not focusing on one age group we will find that we get less sales from each age group, and there is not as high a chance that the music video will become a hit with any of them. We have decided to target both genders, the reason for this is it will make the video more inclusive allowing for higher profit. We can do this as the theme about letting people go, is something that everyone can relate too. But while this is the possible age groups and we will try to make it inclusive, we will for the most part use people aged 18-25 as actors, the reason for this is people of this age group that listen to this genre of music most often. The way we will target people of this age is through the use of modern electronics in the scenes in the present, which they can relate to and through using actors of this age. Background: We are creating this video because after hearing the song, we all believed that it deserved to have a music video, it has many views (currently around 1.2million) on youtube, showing it is quite a popular song, with a high demand to have a video made for it. The video itself has a strong message regarding family members dying, and powerful ideas that can be used to create a fantastic video. We showed this song to many family members and freinds, and most if not all wanted a music video to go along with the fantastic tune.

Research: We are thinking of filming in multiple locations such as a graveyard for the death of the woman’s husband because it makes his death clear to the our audience and gains sympathy from them. Filming will also take place in a bedroom as it is the main location that switches between to other locations in the flashbacks we will have, such as that of happy times in the park when she’s with her child and husband and sad times in the house when the son see’s her fighting inner battle’s and his effort and struggle in trying to make the decision of letting her go, as he feels it might be the best thing for her, even if it means leaving him behind. We have chosen these different locations as they correspond with the audio track and its message and brings out the deeper meaning of the song.

The props involved are very important for this video, as a large part of it will be having a convincing dying woman, due to the nature of the video, very few of the props that we use will be available easily, we will need medical equipment props such as a drip and medical clipboard to make it as authentic as possible, and makeup we can use to convincingly age whoever is playing our main character, as well as just touch up all of our characters to look good on the big screen. Clothes will also be important part of the product, so we may have to buy clothes to match on screen action, brighter clothes for happy times, darker clothes for sadder times, and no clothes can have brand names on them, due to copyright laws. As well as this we need lots of smaller props, some of which we will already own, such as kids toys and flowers and some that we will need to buy, such as a fake wedding ring (a focal point in the video). A large part of the video is set in the past, meaning we will need (for continuity's sake) to only use props that could have existed in that era, we will be going through several decades from the 80’s. Meaning we will have to do our research to make sure that all props belong in the current time shown in the video, and are obvious enough that simply by looking at them, you could identify the era. In the 80’s, she could have a early computer, in the 90’s, she could have a discman, and in the modern era she could have a more modern piece of tech recognisable with the time. Due to the fact most of these things are older, we should be able to get them cheap, it will add authenticity and not eat into our budget very much. We all have houses ready, we have several possible graveyard and park locations. While we have some of the smaller props, we will need to order or buy the medical equipment and a majority of the makeup. We have already sent the email regarding using the track, but have yet to receive permission to use it.Our video for the song will most likely fall under 13 as it will not show any explicit material. The darkest theme will be the overarching theme of death and letting go, which while hinted at if parents do not want their children to know about could say the old women went back to sleep, and if they do decide to explain her death it is a part of life and parents can explain it with little difficulty. As for copyright law, we have sent an email to Best Laid plans, the label that Rag’N’Bone Man’s EP “Wolves” came under, including the song “Life In Her Yet”. Meaning we will not be using the track unlawfully. We will be unable to use branded clothing or other objects, when we are making the video as this would violate, the copyright placed on different brands such as the Nike tick. If we did this the video could be sued or taken

down, unless we gain permission from the company who owns the copyright as well. Before we fade into the video, we will have a copy right to our company to protect what we made without interfering with the video.

Synopsis: A young woman whose life has been struck by the tragic death of her husband fights to get back on her feet even when her life is threatened by cancer, seen by the eyes of her son who struggles to make the choice to let her go and free her from the pain she has been experiencing.

Style: We will aim to create a serious, sombre mood though the video as this will reflect the lyrics of the song which is about someone hanging onto life with an ending that is ambiguous as to whether they live or die. The way in which we will create this mood is by starting with a scene of an old woman in a bed struggling to sit up which would make people understand that this is a serious song. We will also do this through the use of dull colours such as gray and black instead of bright colours which may confuse the audience as to what message we are trying to deliver because this would damage the sombre tone we hope to achieve in the video. A large number of the costumes we will use will be dark e.g. dark grey, black, etc. to symbolise the possible death of the women at the end and emphasis the bleakness she feels in her life. We can also use different filters to make memories of the past appear in black and white which while being a well-known way of separating the past from the present can also when combined with slow motion over the right scenes help to create a sombre atmosphere as if you are looking back at their life making otherwise happy and fun scenes such as children playing with a ball make more meaning and look more serious.

Approximate budget requirements: we have found the amount of money we will need is £12,363.99 although we will request £13,600.39 as it will give us a 10 percent buffer in case prices of different services or items we will buy increases which we can return at the end of the project if not needed. We will need this funding so that we can buy the equipment that we will need to do the filming such as the camera and the studio that we will use which is necessary to tell the story. We will also need to hire several different actors but to cut costs we are doing all of the scenes that require many people at once in one go so we can hire fewer people the remaining days which allows us to spend less of your money making this venture more profitable.
