Product The media product that I am producing will be a five minute long

animated short film. I will use online social media such as Facebook, YouTube and Twitter to help promote the film so that it can gain more recognition. By using online social media, it will allow the production to engage with my target audience and will help the film become well known. I will also create a poster to help the film gain more attention.

The storyline of the film consists of a young mouse searching for food in a kitchen at night and sees the Moon outside and believes it to be a piece of cheese. The mouse then decides to try and reach the Moon by jumping on a trampoline and then using a paper aeroplane but the attempt then lands him into his neighbour’s kitchen. The fridge light is visible in the kitchen showing a piece of cheese left on the counter. The mouse believes that he is in space and climbs up to the cheese and starts to eat it.

Target Audience My film will be targeted for children over the

age of 4 years old and will be classified as ‘Universal’ as the content of the film doesn’t contain harmful or offensive material. Along with this, the concept of my storyline is similar to the animated film (shorts/features) that are produced by major animation studios such as Pixar who also have a similar target audience. The film will be unisex and is suitable for people to view over the age of 4 years old.

Context The storyline of the film consists of a mouse

believing that the Moon is made out of cheese and due to this, the mouse wants to reach the Moon. The mouse tries to use a trampoline and a paper aeroplane to reach the Moon however, the mouse ends up in the neighbour’s kitchen where a fridge is open with a light shining on a block of cheese that is left on the counter. The mouse climbs up on the counter and starts to eat the cheese believing that he is on the Moon.

Most of the music will be instrumental (non-diegetic) with a few sound effects to create verisimilitude.

Media Language The action that is taking place within my film will be

at night , this is to create verisimilitude with the storyline . Most of the colours that I will be using will be vibrant and colourful however, for the scenes that are taking place inside, most of the colours will be quite dark: navy blue, black, grey and maybe some white lighting for the fridge. I will be using a range of colours and lighting to fit the classification of the film so that it is suitable for children 4 years old and over.

Within my film, I want to create a cheerful and fun atmosphere so that it is suitable for my target audience.

Institutions The production name is ‘Karishma

Animation’. I have used my first name for the company name and it is a British film production company. The company will start to preview films on a national scale, working its way up after gaining recognition, along with this , advertising will be used through posters, TV advertisements, newspapers/magazines and social media which will act as a hub to advertise the film.

Representation Within my film, there will be only one

character which is the mouse. The mouse will be presented as quite timid and small but shown to have a big imagination. He will be shown to be quite adventurous as well, these characteristics are quite common for the protagonist to have. These characteristics will help to engage with the target audience too.

Genre I would describe the genre of my film to

be an ‘adventure’ as the storyline dominantly portrays this as the mouse goes on a journey to reach the Moon. Majority of animated films depict the protagonist going through some sort of journey.

The film is also animated so this is also a genre too.
