« When I noticed the lack of quality children’s pillows on the market, I started to get informed. I wanted to give the best to my

two girls, Mako and Yuri. I thus started researching different types of pillows and found some very interesting information on

buckwheat hulls. It then struck me that this is what was in a pillow I had brought back from a trip to Korea, my home

country. I proceeded to adapt the format of the pillow for my two little darlings and they adored it. At that moment Mayukori

was born! »

You may think you know what is contained within your pillow, cushion, mattress, etc. Many chemical products are involved in

the fabrication of stuffing products. It is worrying to think that we spend 8 hours per night with our head resting upon our

pillow, not to mention babies who spend 4 hours a day lying on a nursing pillow.

Synthetic stuffing materials (polyester…) of pillows and nursing pillows are petroleum derived - they are often residues of

the petrochemical industry - and they release an important and durable quantity of VOCs. Certain VOCs are classi$ed as

carcinogenic (xylene, benzene,…).

In order to meet the flammability requirements of bedding products, pillows are most often soaked in FRCs. Made from

heavy metals such as bromine, they have the effect of retarding the spread of flames. Up to 30% of what goes into the

making of a pillow can be comprised of FRCs.The breakdown products that result from these (dioxins and furans) are

considered to be extremely toxic. Here are a few of the effects of these products on the body: hyperthyroidism, nervous

system development problems (autism, hyperactivity, attention de$cit, behavioural problems…). FRC traces found in thehuman body double every 5 years.

pesticides affect the nervous system (system in your body that controls your nerves and muscles).

The spine is the intermediary between the brain and the body. It is thus important to take care of it. The spine follows a

natural curve that must be respected, day and night. If your pillow does not adequately support the cervical vertebrae or if

your nursing pillow does not properly support the lumbar vertebrae, the vertebrae may shift away from their normal

1 An extremity of the luna pillow can support the head and can compensate for the distance between the ear and the

shoulder in order to keep the spinal axis straight.

1 Hammock position (before 3 months)

Tie the luna’s straps together and pass over your head and one shoulder. The straps thus rest on one shoulder and the

cushion rests upon your thighs and tummy. You can then place baby inside the nest. The baby is now in an inclined

hammock-style position.

2 Lumbar position (after 3 months)

You can wrap the luna around your tummy while laying it flat on your thighs. It will take the form of both tummy and child

perfectly when baby is placed on the cushion. This position gives you another advantage: you can push a small amount of

the hulls into both extremities of the luna, then cross the extremities behind your lower back before leaning back. By placing

the two extremities of the cushion on the lumbar vertebrae region, you create excellent lumbar support. You can easily cross

and position the luna’s two extremities by pulling on the cushion’s two straps.

Just fold it in half like two arms preparing to embrace your baby. You can maintain it in this position by tying the two straps

together. Baby’s head rests on the middle part of the moon and his whole spine rests within the nest crater, which respects

the spine’s natural curve.

You can adjust the mattress’ inclination by spreading out the hulls to your liking. By placing them in the center of the moon,

you will get maximum inclination, which is excellent if baby is congested or has digestion problems.

By folding moon’s two arms and attaching the two straps, you will create a small crater inside the LUNA cushion. This crater

is perfect for maintaining baby in a semi-inclined position. For this type of use, make sure that all hulls are located in the

center of the moon with none in the extremities. In this manner, you will obtain sufficient support for a semi-inclined

position. Baby’s bottom will be in the crater with his head at the top of the cushion. This use is excellent for letting baby play

in security while you attend to other matters.

1 You can surround him with pillow right up to armpit level. His whole body is thus surrounded and supported by buckwheat
