Teacher Duties are defined as all those professional tasks encountered by teachers in the course of their activities

concerned with the instruction of pupils.

responsibilities to fit into five categories:

1. The actual conducting of classes and presentation of lessons

2. The preparation of lessons

3. Requisitioning of audio-visual, and other materials, equipment and resources

4. Evaluation and reporting of student progress

5. Maintenance of such classroom order as is necessary to promote a healthy learning climate

Note: The following are also implied as required by law, by regulation or agreement:-general pupil supervision-assist to a reasonable extent with the school program-cooperate with other teachers in the best interests of students-to act as an enthusiastic member of the school’s educational team

• These include the following:– Staff meetings– Curricular activities– Extracurricular activities – Records and reports (e.g. attendance, grades)– School Discipline– Teacher Assistants and parent volunteers– School funds and school purchases

The School Act states that a board may not require a teacher to instruct more than 1,100 hours or more than 200 days in a school year.
