While some refer to it as active learning, others call it by student participation. But one fact remains common. Teachers love the students to participate actively in class.

How to help students engage in class actively?

Prepare the students to participate in class actively. Tell them that active participation in class does not always mean answering a question right, it refers to exploring the topic at hand. This is possible only by voicing different opinions.

Establish Rules to Participate

Consider forming a few groups during class discussions. All the students may not be able to voice their opinion always. In such a case, forming a few groups help. Assign them a topic capacitated to generate multiple ideas.

Form Groups

Whenever you ask questions, you see the same hands coming up. If the same students keep on answering the questions, the other students tend to lose their interest slowly. To avoid this, ask questions the whole class can answer.

Change the Questioning Strategy

Effective usage of technology helps a lot in increasing confidence and motivation. You can allow its usage to help the students communicate with each other. Technology usage will also allow the students obtain, manipulate, generate as well as display information.
