•  Each  year,  the  Na6onal  Cherry  Blossom  Fes6val  commemorates  the  1912  giB  of  3,000  cherry  trees  from  Mayor  of  Tokyo  to  the  city  of  Washington  

•  Today’s  Na6onal  Cherry  Blossom  Fes6val  has  grown  from  modest  beginnings  into  the  na6on’s  greatest  spring6me  celebra6on.

Parade  Route  Length  of  parade  route  is  about  one  mile!    

Memories  of  2006!  •  Congratula6ons  to  the  THS  Marching  Band  for  being  invited  to  march  in  its  3rd  na6onal  parade!    I  was  honored  to  have  been  Drum  Major  for  the  2006  Cherry  Blossom  Fes6val  Parade,  and  even  8  years  later  I  frequently  relive  the  memory  of  that  amazing  experience.    THS  may  not  have  the  most  money,  compete  every  single  weekend  in  marching  fes6vals,  or  have  the  most  connec6ons.

What  it  does  have  is  heart  and  passion  –  that’s  why  THS  is  ge7ng  its  3rd  run  of  a  na;onal  event,  when  some  of  the  

wealthiest,  most  cri;cally  acclaimed  school  bands  in  the  na;on  can  only  dream  of  ge7ng  that  opportunity.

Memories  of  2006!    •   It’s  an  experience  you’ll  remember  for  the  rest  of  you  lives,  and  I  hope  you  soak  in  each  and  every  second  of  it.    25  years  from  now  you  may  not  remember  what  answers  you  put  down  on  a  Trigonometry  test,  but  you’ll  remember  the  6me  you  had  at  the  2015  Cherry  Blossom  Parade!    I  wish  you  all  the  best  of  luck  in  these  coming  months.    Go  Raiders!

Memories  of  2006!  

•  The  crowd  was  amazing!  I  remember  turning  onto  the  main  road  and  there  was  like  a  monsoon  out  of  nowhere  but  it  was  an  amazing  feeling  so  I  didn't  even  care!  I  remember  seeing  my  parents  in  the  crowd  in  and  everyone  cheering  and  being  so  proud  of  all  of  us!  2006  Na3onal  Cherry  Blossom  Parade

•  The  rain  bouncing  off  the  drums  with  each  hit.  more  than  anything  feeling  so  proud  of  where  I  came  from  and  the  shared  passion  within  our  band  family.

•  I  will  push  you  to  be  at  a  Na6onal  Level!    •  All  of  us  MUST  be  on  the  same  page  at  all  6mes.    •  You  will  show  the  na6on  what  “THE  PRIDE  OF  TORRINGTON”  is  all  about!

Day  1  Friday  April  10,  2015    

•  Early  AM  departure  for  Washington,  D.C.  •  Meet  our  Tour  Manager(s),  who  will  escort  us  through  the  dura6on  of  the  trip.  

•  Take  a  panoramic  motor  coach  tour  of  DC  •  Check-­‐in  to  our  hotel  •  Dinner  at  a  local  restaurant  •  Evening  walking  tour  of  various  Monuments  

Day  2  Saturday  April  11,  2015    

•  Breakfast  at  the  hotel  •  NATIONAL  CHERRY  BLOSSOM  PARADE!!!  •  Box  lunch  provided  aBer  the  parade  •  Arlington  Cemetery/par6cipate  in  the  special  US  Military  Wreath  Laying  Ceremony-­‐  Tomb  of  the  Unknown  

•  Dinner  at  a  local  restaurant  •  Evening  tour  of  various  Monuments  

Day  3  Sunday  April  12,  2015  

•  Breakfast  at  the  hotel  •  Check-­‐out  of  hotel  •  Picture  at  Iwo  Jima  Marine  Memorial  •  Departure  for  home  •  Late  aBernoon/early  evening  arrival  at  THS  

• NO  Monday  April  13  will  not  be  an  excused  absence  for  Band  Members!  

Cost  of  Trip    

•  Approximately  $500  •  Depends  on  number  of  students  on  trip  •  Hotel  is  based  on  four  to  a  room  •  If  there  are  financial  concerns  please  do  not  let  that  stop  you  from  par6cipa6ng!    I  will  do  everything  possible  to  make  sure  money  is  NOT  an  issue  for  families!
