• What is TIM?

• TIM is a project which aims to give older people an opportunity to talk about their experiences.

• Will I enjoy it?

• Over a cup of tea, we will chat about your life. Your TIM Assistant will guide you by asking questions.

• How long will it take?

• It will take up to 2 hours.

• Why would I be interested in taking part in TIM?

• Reminiscing is great for mental agility as well as being a springboard off which many conversations begin. Your family and friends may also enjoy talking with you about your TIM film.

• Do I need to bring anything with me?

• We would like you to choose up to twenty photos which pinpoint different parts of your life. Baby photos, wedding photos, holiday snaps etc. Also up to two small objects, for example a Girl Guide badge, a ticket stub, postcard or a special book.

• Which parts of my life will we talk about?

• Amongst other things we may discuss your place of birth, your earliest memories, your family, Christmas, childhood games, neighbours, turning 18, your first job, Sundays, radio and TV.

• Can I avoid sensitive subjects?

• You may decide against talking about some subjects, we will move on immediately and never, ever press you to speak about something difficult.

• Who will see my story?

• Whoever you choose, this is your story.

• What will be the outcome of TIM?

• We hope that we will be able to bring some of your memories to life, and to make them technicolour again. You will learn to copy and save your photos using a scanner and computer, preserving them digitally - don’t worry if you have limited experience on a computer or none at all, you will be given all the basic skills you need. You will end up with a short film bringing together your photos, memories and thoughts, recorded for posterity and will have enjoyed making it.
